RIP a true America hero, Darrell Shifty Powers.
Powers, who died at 86 on June 17, served as an Army paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Divisions 2nd battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, Easy Company, during World War II. Many of you learned of his heroic exploits by reading the 2001 Stephen Ambrose book Band of Brothers or by watching the 10-episode HBO mini-series of the same name.
If you have seen the show, you know who he was, even if you didn't, he was one of the "greatest generation, and a hero of WWII.
There aren't many of them left.
