I will be the first one to complain then. I would never go to a restaurant on Easter, Thanksgiving, or Christmas. I fill my gas tank before the holiday so I don't have to stop there on the holiday so I am not one of the reasons those people are working. I don't go to the theaters pretty much any day let alone a holiday. I don't stop at convenience stores, or grocery stores on holidays. If I need something from those, I do it before the holiday. The only ones I feel have no choice because it is for the good of society is the emergency personnel. They are a necessity, none of the others are a necessity. No one is going to die if I was too stupid to remember to pick up Cool Whip for the pumpkin pie but people would die if they closed the hospital for the day.
I'll respectfully disagree.
Would it be my preference to go out to eat on Thanksgiving.....NO. But I have once and I hope I do again.
One Thanksgiving, my dad decided that for possibly the last time due to many elderly ages, he wanted to have a Thanksgiving meal with all of my mom's siblings and their kids. A HUGE family. However, they had never done that because no one had a large enough house to seat everyone. So he made reservations at a local, very nice restaurant and we had a huge gathering of guests there. It was wonderful because no one had to cook or clean up and the relatives all got to see each other.
The next time I hope I have to eat out on Thanksgiving......
At the college where my DD attends school, the RA in the dorm is REQUIRED to stay for Thanksgiving. So if my DD is lucky enough to become an RA, not only will be traveling to her town and staying in a hotel for Thanksgiving, we will also be either taking her out to Thanksgiving dinner in a restaurant or perhaps getting carry out and taking it to the dorm. I will be super thankful for the hotel and the restaurant.
And I suppose if my DD can't come home for Easter weekend, we will all pack up and go to her, we will be doing the same hotel and restaurant deal where she goes to school. We wouldn't have access to a kitchen but it's being together that counts.
