Are they putting up the Mickey head now? For some reason, I didn't know it was so soon. I thought they were changing the Sun Wheel eventually, like when the Golden Gate bridge comes down, and I thought that wasn't until next year.

I've gotten on the Sun Wheel but not ToT. I'm too scared of ToT.

i'm going at the end of this month. i had no idea the sunwheel was coming down so soon. i didn't like to ride it, but it will feel really weird to not see it there.

i'll take pics if anything has changed when i get there.

OMG, the ferris wheel will be gone forever??? How could I hav missed this!! I am always in Fl , my son absolutely loved that ride. Is this temporaray? I hope.

It's coming back as "Mickeys Fun Wheel"! Why it will take till next year to complete the changes is beyond me!

Exactly, they are taking off the Sunburst and putting on a Mickey Head. It's all part of the whole re-theming of Paradise Pier.

And the downtime is not just for that change either. I remember reading that it was also closed in conjunction with the construction of the new laser water show that is coming to the lagoon.

i think i'm going to really LIKE that!!! i read somewhere that the mickey head inside the loop on california screamin' will be removed eventually, so maybe this is sort of taking the place of that?

I think it's a good idea that they're re-inventing the theme to make it more "Disney" rather than "Cali".

I feel the crowds may flow towards CA more after ALL the new additions are made... I'm personally excited about that Little Mermaid ride!!


....I've never been on the Sun Wheel. It's a shame I never had the chance to .

We just got back from DLR yesterday night. The ride itself is not going anywhere or changing. The only change will be the swapping of the sun face for a giant mickey head. So, for all of you foolish mortals that haven't tried it yet, or actually find it enjoyable rather than terrifying, it will be back in due time!

The swinging gondolas on the Sun Wheel are pure pure terror. ToT have nothing on those evil devils. I have never been so scared in my life while riding that, I was screaming the whole time..

I should have known it was scary. The little girl who came off the swinging gondola right before we boarded puked all over the floor on the loading area....

I am going to miss it for awhile, it does make Paradise Pier pretty...
