Rip, Ride, Rockit!

Looking forward to Mardi Gras '10!!! I have a feeling we'll be ridin' this one quite a bit!!!

I just heard they are opening it up to the public tomorrow, 8/14 at noon time !!! What great news !!!! I saw the press release on tv this morning stating that they have been given all certificates and permits and have full clearance to begin operations for the Rip, Ride Rocket and that all on-site resort guests have exclusive access to it for the weekend !!!

...and then my alarm clock went off and I realized that when I arrive tomorrow, 8/14, that it will not be open. Doh !!!

Diskid -
I'm so with you on this! We also arrive tomorrow and wouldn't it be great if your dream was reality. And BTW, you actually had me for a moment there!

I just read on IOA Central that the banner that was just put up on Sunday, has ripped in half from the wind!! :confused3

Ha -yeah we were at US today and there was a wicked storm. The storm didn't start till right before 5pm.

I didn't see any testing at all today.

Is it too soon to start saying out loud that the Harry Potter attraction will open before RRR? Maybe they're going for a simultaneous opening?

Cynical! Jaded! Darksider!

Our local park, Kennywood, (pgh) announced a new coaster for 2010 yesterday. Maybe it will open before HR3:rotfl2:

Great pics! I just did a little Examiner report and linked over to this thread so people can see the aftermath for themselves. We wanted to go to Uni tonight but were scared off by the rain again. It got pretty wicked over here so I can imagine it was bad there too.

From reading other boards, I see the new giant banner they installed on the lifthill got ripped in half or became seperated today during a thunderstorm. :headache: This darn thing better be open by HHN!!

We were there when it happened. There were horrible storms yesterday and hid out in Lombard's for most of the time. As we left the "play" banner on the ride was in half. It's like one thing after another on that ride!

I'm just hope it will be open for Grinchmas now!

Too bad about the banner.
For the record, I can live/ride without it.

the ride is open NOW... my sister just called me on my cell to tell me. I am sitting back at the resort & decided to sit tonight out... she said she heard a lot of screams.. then looked over & it was open :thumbsup2

yeah... storms were bad yesterday.. I was caught in them too...

I read on IOA Central that they are letting Universal Team members ride it tonight. Hopefully this means that they will have soft openings soon.

I was just wondering how soft openings work? Do they let you know what times the ride will be open, or you just have to be lucky enough to be near the ride when it is open?

either way...bodies are on it and it isn't the coaster workers.. so it is a step in the right direction... the ride should be opening to all soon I would imagine.
