I don't think I ever listened to his version of America the Beautiful without getting a tear in my eye.

Ray Charles is a music legend and an American icon. He was a class act and will be sorely missed.

Oh, that's sad. I saw him perform on The David Letterman Show when he was taping here in Los Angeles some number of years ago. What a pleasant surprise it was to be treated to a performance by such a legend.

What an amazing performer he was. He will be missed.
