I just read that Dave Smith passed away. This is such sad news.

Very sad to hear this. We first met Dave around 1991 I think at the old Disneyana conventions they used to have. He was super nice and such an amazing source of info. What a huge loss of institutional memory for Disney.

Man, another direct connection to Walt and Roy gone. An absolute legend.

Someone find Bob Gurr and put him in a safe place! He’s - at least I think - the last Imagineer alive who worker directly with Walt.

Thanks for letting us know, Mary Jo. I was at his “Lunch with a Legend” D23 event last month. He did seem kind of fragile, but his stories were engaging, as always. He will definitely be missed.

I remember getting Disney Mags and reading his articles. One of the reasons I decided to become a Librarian/archivist.

He always talked about interesting topics.
