RIP aussie dollar

I nearly had to hide myself in the wardrobe a few years ago, when I booked a trip that had us well away from television coverage of the Grand Final.

he would divorce me and take the dog if the sharks were playing a GF and we were away:scared:

poor sharkies, they peaked too soon:wave2:

Back in 2009 I had the audacity to book our holiday in November and we were in San Francisco for the Melbourne Cup. After much sighing and weary sidelong glances guess who forgot all about it when we were there? That's right - he was having too much fun at Alcatraz ;)

Anyhow, this time guess where we will be for Grand Final Day? Disneyland!! We check into the GCH the night the GF is on here in Australia, so hopefully they will show it at ESPN Zone. If the Tigers make it I'll never hear the end of it :p

Yep, Last year we were in the middle of the Carribean Sea on GF day! I tried so hard to find out if we could watch it to no avail. It didnt help that it would have been 2:00am.

Although you could catch the AFL the previous day if you stayed up. NRL is unheard of anywhere but the east coast of Aust. (and NZ)

I was getting worried earlier in the season that my team were going to make the GF (Carlton).

No danger there  :scratchin

Since we are on the topic of GF and holidays. We were in Disneyland in our room watching the 2009 GF live, watching the CATS win, and then again last year were in Vegas watching it live as well !!

Need to plan another holiday for this years, as it always works out well !!::yes::

on the dollar, an article said pretty much that if Greece or others get kicked out of the Eurozone, goodby parity hello 70c, if not then back over $1.

ouch! How does that even make sense!?! :confused3

My parents got married the day before the GF over 30 years ago, it was the GF where they had a tie and had to play again the next week. Mum tells me of her fond memories watching the replay the following week while on honeymoon :rotfl:

Meanwhile my boss got married the day of the GF replay, the wedding was supposed to start at 4, and at 4:30 he tried to get in touch with his bride to be to find out where everyone was. Turns out the Father of the bride (and brothers, drivers, etc.) all decided that they weren't going to the wedding until the end of the game, so the bride was stuck inside the house until the whistle blew :lmao: a 4pm wedding turned into a 5:30pm wedding.

At 5.34pm its back up to 0.99254 ( according to XE.com)

Maybe if we all get together and WILL the dollar to go up it will feel our vibes ? :rotfl:

Oh, yeah, I forgot my past record!. :scared1:

I'll try stepping back and concentrating on my Monopoly money instead :rotfl2:

When I started whinging to DH about the dollar he looked at me with surprise and said "WE are getting closer to our trip, OF COURSE the damned dollar is nosediving. It smells us ! "

You know yesterday I was driving home listening to the ABC Radio PM news and they had a Westpac guy who was saying they think the dollar will be back around 1.04 from Sept onwards.
He also said that it depends on Greece and the Euro. Someone else said they doubted Germany would let Greece pull out of the Euro and collapse. Last night on The Business Ken Henry had everyone laughing when he said he thought Australia would become a "safe haven" currency and be strong for a long time yet.

So there you have everything from dancing on sunshine to dying in gloom. :confused3

I wish I knew what to believe. I think I've decided to hedge my bets. I can't get anywhere near a bank until next week so I will see where things are at then, and will perhaps change half of the money over. I will however definitely get some euros, and some pounds.

we will rally above $1.10
we will maintain $0.95
we will all die in a blazing pit of doom $0.50

take your pick...

LOL just like picking lotto...

Just got some money converted for 97 yesterday. Hopefully it goes up before my big trip in Sept. Was going to do it earlier in the year when it was over the $1 but thought to wait.:confused3

I FEEL YOUR PAIN....but since I just blew $2300  of my budget on air fare for feb from my sept kitty, I now have no money to exchange:rotfl: so no biggy now!

First world problems :rolleyes1

Dollar is at 0.9752 today. Luckily I paid for disney when it was still up around the 1.04 mark. I new I should've changed money over when it was at 1.08!!

I keep hearing conflicting reports though.. some say it will drop below 80 and other say it will exceed parity. Don't know what to believe :sad2:
Guess it's better to exchange now and be safe than sorry.
