Has the world gone blooming mad!!!

I cannot believe that people would choose to behave like this!!!

This as turned what was a peaceful protest about a mans tragic death into something completely surreal!
I heard a woman on the radio who has lost everything & I mean everything - she has only the clothes she was wearing - in the big fire on Saturday night.
It made me cry :sad1:

This is just sheer thuggery at it's unbelievable worst.

To my colleagues in the thin blue line - I salute you.

Katie :sad2:

i was just watching on sky.....those poor police....they're being bombarded...
you could see as one policeman was hit by something and went down....
terrible....

and they had on the phone the owners of some shop or restaurant, not sure, that had burned to the ground after a 100 years or something....

why don't they bring out the army? It doesn't seem the police are up to this....

it must be terrifying for the law-abiding people in the riot areas....

Words fail me have been following this throughout the day and am disgusted with the actions of these im sorry to say it animals.
All those poor people affected and all our police fire and ambulance workers that are being put in such dangerous positions due to the stupidity of these individuals.
I feel so ashamed that something like this is happening in our country I just pray that this gets sorted before someone loses a life if that means bringing in the forces then so be it

Sorry am not generally so vocal but am so upset watching these scenes of pure hate
cornish pixie

Not happy about this at all, when something like this goes global newswise its a terrible representation for this country :/

These riots have nothing to do with the peaceful protest from the other day, this is just an excuse for large groups of people (a lot who are kids) to cause damage and steal, it's an absolute disgrace

A chilling map graphic here.

If this were to happen in the US it would be termed a race riot. It isn't about race - that's just the profile, sadly, of the feral criminal element involved.

Scum thats the only word I can use to describe them. Looting bad enough but setting fire to buildings afterwards is just the lowest of the low. Peoples homes, businesses, belongings and jobs gone. :sad2:

I live in Seven Sisters, just down the road from where it all kicked off originally. It wasn't a very nice weekend, no sleep as we were too scared someone might smash our car or our house. That's why I've not been on here all weekend, too tired and twitchy! Hearing sirens, helicopters and then gangs of people rampaging up and down what's normally a quiet residential street.

The high road and retail park are destroyed and the area looks a mess. It's eerie out there as shops that weren't damaged keep their shutters down and no one will look anyone else in the eye.

No one should feel unsafe in their own home and no one has the right to make anyone feel this scared.

I truly feel awful for the people who have lost homes and businesses through these terrible incidents.

I hope it can be brought under control soon, I dread to think what the consequences will be if it carries on for much longer.

What a total and utter mess this country is turning into.

Thoughts to all police colleagues called into the riot areas and the fire/ambulance etc who are also there :(

As Claire, thoughts go to my colleagues regardless which force they are from, hope my colleagues return safe and well.

And hope my grandparents (90) (92) stay safe they live 1 mile away and could see the flames/smoke. Grandad turns 92 tomorrow what a birthday he will have

I live in Croydon, near the furniture shop that was burnt down. It had been there for 144 years, and now- because of some mindless thugs- it's gone. I felt so sorry for Trevor Reeves on the news. You could tell he was close to breaking down.:sad2:

Incidents in Liverpool last night too, on a much smaller scale than in London and even Brum, but all the same.

A few Facebook groups have been set up getting people to get out on the streets and start cleaning up - which I've just seen happening on the news now.
Is that what you meant by the "Big Society", Mr. Cameron? Well it's not thanks to you...

:goodvibes

I think that is a bit harsh - the police are more than up for it - the idiots were setting fires and then moving round the corner to go looting. Dont forget that there will be a % on holiday - as with the rest of the population. - there is only a finite number of officers available - even office based officers were grabbing shields to go out and help. There will be only around 5% of a force trained to such a level to deal with this nonsense!

Totally agree with you Mandy.

Certainly not a race riot - even the events on Sunday night werent deemed as a racist event. Mostly I saw white youths - male and female - doing the looting!

I agree- no-one should feel unsafe in their own home.

Lets hope that there is less trouble tonight or I fear where this will end.

that's whom i heard on the news - and he said all the people who work for him are now out of a job too...

when i said the police aren't up to it, i didn't mean to say anything bad about the police......i meant that this is a crazy out of control situation that needs a massive response....not the few police who you could see huddling together trying to protect an officer who'd been hit by a brick...
i'm sure they know how to deal with lawlessness of this nature, but they have to be given the green light to use that amount of force...

the trouble is, control once lost is difficult to get back...

it reminds me of those movies that portray the future as gloomy and dreary - total lawlessness....

I can remember similar images from the Handsworth / Brixton / Toxteth riots 30 years ago. What is happening is sadly nothing new. I feel so sorry for the residents who are living in fear and for the police having to deal with this. I hope it's all over soon.:sad2:

Its now spreading to Birmminham, Bristol, Salford, Manchester and Liverpool. Thse people are thugs and should receive lenghtly sentences.

Totally agree with this Mandy.

My thoughts go out to all the emergency services having to work through this & to the people living nearby. Yesterday we were having to take patients to other hospitals as the main specialists ones were not accepting as they couldn't guarentee the safety of ambulance crews, its disgraceful it has come to this due to mindless thugs who have nothing better to do. Throw the book at them

Totally agree... its disgusting. These animals should be caged and got rid of...
