OK! I have to admit it! When it comes to knowing anything about downloading new ringtones I am confused. :confused3 Give me a computer and I'm fine :thumbsup2 , but my cell phone... Anyway, how do I get new ringtones, especailly Disney ines? And who can explain the charges? If it says "$1.99 for one use" what does that mean?

You can get disney ring tones here http://mobile.disney.go.com/disney/ringtones they have a wide selection.

And that 1.99 for one use means for one phone. Some ring tones you can share with friends or family but you can ony use it on your phone if it says that

EDIT: Anyone know any other good ring tone sites not just disney?

I use Nextpimp.com and snazzie.com for my rings and games .

But I can transfer them right from my Computer

bumping....

I'd also like info on good websites to get disney ring tones - sites that you don't have to subscribe!

One option to maybe consider, too, is getting a ringtone software package, e.g. Ringtone Media Studio. It lets you edit mp3 files, cropping them, fading them in and out, etc., to make them appropriate for ringtone use. You can then transfer them to your phone from your computer using either Bluetooth, infrared, or a free upload site (there are several out there). Anyway, I got RMS a couple of weeks ago for something like $19.99 at CompUSA and since then have uploaded ALL cool ringtones to my phone and am the envy of friends and family alike. Or something. :thumbsup2

Very cool. Thank you. L

I also know nothing about ringtones and was wondering the same thing. I would love to have "Under the Sea" as my tune. However, I was unsure of charges. My DH's company pays for my cell phone/plan so it is the basic. (Enough for me, though.) So I can pay a charge to get the tune on my phone (I could just reimburse the company for that one charge or pay it out of pocket with credit card.), but I can't have a regular monthly fee added to my account. I couldn't ask the company to do that.
So how does that fee work? Is it just one time to put it on the phone? Is it a charge each time the ring happens? Is it a monthly fee added to your phone account?

With all of the ringtones I've ever d/l'ed, I've just paid a one-time fee (like $2.49 or so) and then it's mine. No monthly or per-usage fees or anything like that.

Great!
Has anyone used the Disney link that WDWfan36 posted? Was it the same experience that OK has had? Did you just pay that one fee to get the tune? You didn't have to pay per use or per month did you? Will I be able to pay that money by credit card on the web site and not have to reimburse the company? I know that is a small amount of money and the company will not really mind, but I would prefer to pay it on my own if possible.

******BTW, I have Verizon if that makes any difference. **************

from where?

I can't find a website I can upload/down stream ringers to for my phone. Ive got a Sany MM 7500. I went to Mobile17, but they don't support my phone yet. I hate my ringers!

I have T-Mobile. If you go to their website, they have hundreds of ringtones available. Once you select one, you pay around $1.99 (a one-time only fee) and the ringtone is 'sent' directly to your phone. After it arrives, (less then a minute), you'll get a message arrived tone from your phone. You then just use your menu to reset the ringtone to the newly sent one. My 12 year-old DD can do it...............unfortunately ;)

I just called Verizon to ask about their ringtones because they do have a few Disney songs. The rep on the phone told me that it is a one time fee to acquire the song ($1.99 or $2.99; I forgot which) and it is only good for one year. He said that then there is a $0.99 fee added to the bill each month after the download.
Is that only with Verizon tunes, though? If I would get it off of the Disney site would I only pay the download charge and avoid the 99 cents monthly charge?
I know that it is not a lot at all. But I don't want to add that cost to the company's bill when they are nice enough to pay the service for me.

I've had Verizon for many years, and have only been charged a one-time fee for the tone...never a monthly charge. And once it is on my phone it stays; I don't know how it could only be good for a year. They cannot remove your ringtone.
It really depends on what type of phone you have (with Verizon) as to which ringtone applications you are offered. I just got a new phone and used Get-it-Now to download some tunes. There were lots to choose from. Check with your cell phone provider....I think that would be a good place to start.

That is who I called. I called my carrier/provider, Verizon. Do you think that different states or Verizon plans may carry different regulations/rules for the ringtone charges?
If you haven't been charged, maybe the rep I spoke with doesn't know what he is talking about.

Marydmjj,

The site mobile1phonegames.com had one harry potter ringtone which sounded pretty good - it was some music having to do with Hedwig. It was under the "music ringers" category in "soundtracks".

I have a Verizon phone as well and downloaded a new ringtone today. The 1.99 charge is for copyright laws. Once you pay it the song is yours. The .99 monthly charge is for Ringback tones (totally different setup). I don't have ringback tones so I avoid the monthly charge.

Hope that helps!

Thanks. I am soooooooo not-in-the-know about this! :confused3
What are Ringback tones? If I download the tune off of the Disney web site listed on page one of this thread, will I have to pay the monthly charge? Or will I just have to pay the one time charge? I would love to get the Fantasmic song or Under the Sea!!!!!
