Ringing in 2010, 6 months til we'll be back again

Sounds like you guys had a nice night. :) Tinkgurl and her fiance look like the sweetest couple. :lovestruc

I buy the Disney eggs at Publix, too! The truth is they are Eggland's Best eggs and that's what I used to buy but one day I saw the Disney ones - they're the same price. I really only shop at Publix but I find myself coming home w/ sticker shock lately  I go to Whole Foods for things I don't find at Publix but their prices, obviously, are even higher. No Kroger's down here. Publix bakery is the best! All our cakes are from there unless it's for some really big occasion and then we'll do a specialty bakery. Tell Trent to keep an eye out for buy one get one free peanut butter. Otherwise Publix brand is just fine; that's what we do. You can also combine coupons with the bogo - it takes a little planning but it's worth it. :thumbsup2

Things I've been wondering:

1. Jarvis is still going on your summer trip, right?

2. Has Trent gotten his Florida ID yet? Florida Resident discounts!! :cool1:

Hey MeMom - I just got here and (obviously) haven't read all of this report, but I had to chime in and say that the girls are sooooo cute! And, your family looks like y'all have so much fun together. Thanks for the link!

Leslie

Memom, I've just been lurking lately, but have been enjoying your report. Currently I am reading along as I watch Princess and the Frog. :)

Love Bella's wide stance! Hope you are enjoying your weekend :goodvibes

Here's a quick comment on the Cape May Caper....
Trent made only one buffet run. Then he sat while we stuffed ourselves. Anything that went in the baggie he could have easily eaten if he had wanted to.
Rules are rules and my mother always said " you touch it you take it" so he did! We laughed so hard!

Cute pictures from your dismeet at the mall !

Love tinkgurl's purse , one of those is so on my list for September , I have a serious purse addiction ! lol

All the candy looks so yummy ! We may just have to make some here at home this weekend , don't worry MeMom if we do I will def post pictures ! lol

It's always so hard to choose from all the yummy things in the candy shop. I like the butterscotch noodles and anything with nuts, especially pecans or almonds.

If you make goodies, we'll be happy to see them. :thumbsup2

I visited Patrick in his classroom this week and as they were getting ready to go to lunch, I saw one student sharing something with the teacher that was clearly a bit personal. She made a face and commented to me that the kids have no secrets at this age. I said I'm glad I lead an incredibly boring life!

Yes, they are very informative.

awwww...such a cute picture! :goodvibes glad you guys were able to meet up again.

those chocolate bunnies look yummy. i may have to stop by somewhere today to get something similar!

Wish you had been in town. We would have called Erica, but we didn't know exactly when tinkgurl was coming through, and we knew we were just staying at the mall for a few minutes. We didn't shop or anything, just walked one time around so Brook could ride the carousel.

I think you deserve one. Next year, you'll be buying bunnies for a special Easter basket!

It sounds like you had a great time with Brooklynn, even if she was a little bit overprotective about the bears! :scared1: I think I would've taken my chances with bear bite as well.

I'll take two of those chocolate bunnies please! YUM.

I'm a fan of white chocolate, but the bunnies were all safe - non of us got one. Brooklynn got candy covered marshmallow stick and Jill got something, but I don't remember what. What did you get, Jill?

Great pictures from your Dis meet last night. It sounds like you and Brooklynn had a great girls night out in the tent, bears and mermaids included.
Some of my favorite memories growing up were sleep overs at my Granny's. I was fortunate enough to have two wonderful grandmothers. One who lived about 5 min. from my parent's house and the other only about 30 min. You and Brooklynn are making memories that will last a lifetime.

I had an old grandmother and a young grandmother. They were both good grandmothers, but very different. I have a feeling Brooklynn and Bella will grow up to say their grandmothers were very different, as well.

MeMom and Jill! It was so good to see you guys last night!!! :goodvibes

It was good to see you, too. I hope you guys are catching up on your rest.

They are a cute couple. Her fiance was carrying on a conversation with Brooklynn, telling her about their wait for Rainforest. Brooklynn had not had a nap and was a little silly/tired, so she she ran in circles most of the time we were talking.

Thanks to Jill, Trent can hold off on buying peanut butter for a few more weeks. :goodvibes

Jarvis is going this summer, and I think Brandon is, too. If Drew goes, he'll ride with them, since the rest of us are flying.

Trent's AP will be good through July, and then he can get a FL pass.

We do have much fun together! I think your bunch probably does, too. ;)

What a terrific dismeet! Love the girls pic!!! :cool1:

One of these days we're going to get your girls down here for a hippo meet, too! :thumbsup2

Jill said the clothes came while Brooklynn was here, so she is going to put them back out for her to find in the mail on Monday, since she loves to check the mail. She knows that will be a big surprise for her. :woohoo:

Memom, I've just been lurking lately, but have been enjoying your report. Currently I am reading along as I watch Princess and the Frog. :)

Always feel free to join in! What did you think of the movie? The characters are all just so good and fun!

Bella did grace us with another two steps today, and we clapped for her. Not surprisingly, she smiled at us. :)

I'm glad you guys were all able to meet up again. That group picture came out so cute!

I think the hippo is going to see many more DIS meets in the future, too. :thumbsup2

Trent can eat a lot of food, but he has to eat it in little spurts. After his insides were ripped apart and put back together, he just can't take two or three plates at one sitting like a lot of people can. Not that he doesn't want to, of course.

Jill and I both said we could easily imagine the 'entertainment' at Cape May that night. That's the very place the CM offered us things to take food home in, though, so I guess it's all cool.

Looks like you had a great time with Brooklynn. Great that you met up with tinkgirl. Great pic of the girls.

Ok why were Trent's insides taken out & put back together????

Long, long story.
Last regular season game of his senior year, last two minutes of the soccer game, Trent went in for a goal and got a knee in the stomach by the goalie. He fell down and very unlike him, took a few minutes to get up. He did, though, and attended the senior night party after the game, but said he felt horrible. The trainer took him to the doctor that was on campus at the time, and he looked him over. He told us to watch for this and that, but it was a one in a million chance that he'd be anything but sore.

Trent woke up in the middle of the night sick, which did worry me a little. He missed school the next day - the first day he had missed all year. He called midday and said he felt so bad, but he was determined to go to the Senior Banquet with his beautiful homecoming queen girlfriend that night. He said he was going to see the trainer first to try to get some meds to make it through.

The trainer sent him straight to the hospital. I was called and told to meet him there. By the time I got there, they had him hooked up to a thousand things doing test after test. We were told every test was coming back bad, and he was prepped for emergency surgery. Prayers were said, and the trainer, who was the only one who was fully understanding the doctors' lingo, left the room in tears.

The night ended with students and teachers filling the parking lot and lobby in their dresses and tuxes while he was in surgery. The doctor came out and said that by some sheer freak accident, he had been hit with such force that it had busted every organ in his stomach and he was bruised from sternum to spine. Poisons had been leaking into his body all night and day, and we were told that had he not been sent in by the trainer, he would have probably lasted about two more hours. He would have collapsed and died at his senior banquet is what we were told. He was on the front page of the Nashville Tennessean because this was such a freak accident. The doctors said the injuries were like what they see in 80 mph car accidents.

Only my son, right?!?!?

He had an eight month recovery at home, but as you can see, he is a healthy horse now. We are very blessed to still have him with us.

Oh my gosh... that would be a horrible way to end a senior year. Trent certainly had an angel watching out for him!

Enjoy your Sunday!

He didn't get to finish the last little bit of school, but he did slowly make his way across the graduation stage. He barely made it through that day, but he was determined he was going to. He could barely sit up, and he couldn't put on normal clothes. He had a t-shirt and sleep pants on under his graduation gown, I believe! :rotfl:

I will enjoy this last day before we get back to school. I'll be looking forward to our Mother's Day trip from Monday morning until the day we leave! :goodvibes

Oh my gosh-thank God he went to the hospital when he did!!! What an ordeal. What the heck was that kids knee made out of:confused3
I could see a serious injury like that maybe in football but soccer?? I guess any sport can be dangerous at times huh?? Well thank goodness he recovered ok. My DS (17) plays soccer for his high school team but knock on wood no injuries so far. (I hope I did not just jinx him).

Have a great rest of the weekend before you have to head back to school on Monday!! I am not usually up this late so time for bed.

sometimes i think these things happen for a reason. it doesn't seem so at the time and it is horrid on the parents of the kids. but then they go and do such wonderful things. Like your son is doing now. :thumbsup2

who knows what he will become, or whom he will help in the future.

but dang!!! :scared1:

lol:rotfl:

They said his healthiness was to his detriment, in a way, because the normal person would have given in and seen a doctor hours earlier. He was trying to tough it out, and he almost toughed it out until it was too late!

One in a million chance, so hopefully Trent covered the one for you son. ;)

The paper interviewed the kid with the iron knee for the article. He called us and said he was so sorry. He had no idea, of course, and we assured him that in no way did we blame him.

lol:rotfl:

It is kind of 'dang' when we look back on it! Then, it was all just shock, keeping going, and dealing with his emotional/physical well-being. He was going to keep playing basketball in college, something he had worked hard for, and there he was with a morphine pump, a cut on his belly big enough to have had a baby, and unable to scoot himself to the side of the bed! :sad2:

But, you are very right - we don't know where our roads will lead until we look back on them from the other side. Like everyone, he has had ups and downs. Right now, he seems to be at a very good place in life, and we couldn't be happier for him.

Week One was not a normal one - he was in Orlando for one night and then left for Tampa. He didn't get home until almost midnight, I'm sure, after the Cape May escapades  with Wigd and Shocker. He spent two nights in Orlando, and now he and Jamie are at her mom's in Gainesville. I know that they will have fun with family and be able to eat well. :) When he gets back to Orlando, he can finally get settled in and have a more normal week.

Have a great Sunday, everyone! Some of our traveling friends who had left Pop Century lawn chairs out by the pool in the sunshine earlier in the day ended up having to stop at a hotel because they couldn't get through a snowstorm on the way home. I hope they make it safely home today.

OMG how scary for your family. I teared up a little on that story. You have such a wonderfull family and it is nice that you are all so close.

wow...what a story! Glad you had a trainer who knew something wasn;t right! Trent is one very lucky boy! God was definitely on his side!
