Ringing in 2010, 6 months til we'll be back again

love the pictures at the grand floridian. it's just sooooo pretty at christmas! and i love that they had apple cider there. we didn't see that last year but we were there earlier in december, so they may not have started serving it yet.

Love the pictures at Ft. Wilderness. We really need to get over there. Maybe this summer.

Wow! Those decorations are great! Is it bad that I've stayed at WL for 4 years and I've never made it over to see FW? :guilty:

Oh, guess what! I finally started my TR last night :cool1:

Yes. Get yourself over there and visit your next-door-neighbors!

I think you stayed right above where we were this summer.

I saw a TV special during Christmas time where they showed people sprucing up their homes at FW for Christmas. I just think it is so cool that guests do that and that people stay their for so long. I never made it their in November- just AKL. Maybe I can go explore there during the day this year before MVMCP.:thumbsup2
I hate testing. I taught elementary for a few years but then moved on to Art. Then last year I was laid off but I just got a part-time job today that I'm thrilled about. My kids have the FCAT next week.

They showed a lot of those same decorations on the Samantha Brown Christmas show. I know the bubble bath one was on it.

I wouldn't encourage anyone to go into teaching these days. It is not at all what it used to be, and it is only going to get worse. This week, instead of teaching Reading, I have to Running Record test eighteen students indiviually. It takes hours. Then I have to DIBELS test ten others. Then I have to ThinkLink test my homeroom two afternoons.

I feel the same way MeMom. It makes me so sad.:sad2:

30 minutes extra a day...well, most Magic School Bus episodes are 28 minutes...seems perfect!:thumbsup2 A district near me is doing this also because they had no banked days. They are calling for snow here again tomorrow night. I'm hoping they are wrong because it will be Saturday school for me if we miss.

I loved the Fort Wilderness pictures! I want to do the sleigh ride next year so I'll get to see all the fun decorations. Some of those folks really go all out!

We'll have to be creative, because the kids will be more than ready to go home!

We have not done the sleigh ride. Maybe that's something we can do when I have enough to fill the sleigh with a whole bunch of grandkids. :thumbsup2

Can you imagine staying in WDW 7 months out of the year??? :faint: Do you think you'd get bored? :confused3 I tell you what, I'd love the opportunity to find out. The decorations in all those camp sites are something else!

I figure it's pretty much home to them. They'd get less bored there than we would at home, I would think.

After seeing your FW pictures I need to add FW to my list of resorts to visit at Christmas.

It's worth the visit. It's a beautiful, clean campground.

They really do go all out at Ft. Wilderness don't they? The decorations are just unbelievable!!!

At home, all of that would be considered gaudy, but there, in the spirit of fun that it is, it works.

Wow, seeing all your FW pictures makes me really regret not heading over there to check out all those decorations when we were there in December! :headache: Those people do an amazing job!

Can you imagine living IN Disney World 7 months out of the year?! Pure bliss :cloud9: Maybe one day?

I'll never be able to do it, but if I could arrange to go four to six times a year, I think that would be perfect for me.

Wow, they sure go all out with their decorations! I can't believe that windshield full of all the stuffed Mickeys, Pooh Bears, and more!

I think it's over-the-top crazy, but it is just perfect for that place. People are just walking or riding golf carts up and down the rows of campers looking at all of the fun decorations. It's just what the campground is about at that time of the year. :santa:

Ft Wilderness looks amazingly fun! Maybe I will live down there 7 mos out of the year?? Then I would be around Disney ALL the time!

And it's such a different atmosphere over there. we talked about renting a camper and trying it out sometime. :)

aww... thanks. :o

I didn't realize Fort Wilderness had an inflatable forest! :rotfl: Good golly.

I get the impression they don't leave often.... I think I could do 7 months out of the year at Disney. :rolleyes1

They just have their friends all around and they have a good time. I guess they have jobs where they can work from their computers pretty much, or maybe they are all lottery winners.

Ft. Wilderness is on our must do list next Christmas for sure! It looks like so much fun!

Oh by the way....
We went to the library tonight.
Checked out Horton Hears a Who. DVD
It also has bonus stories Horton Hatches the Egg
and Daisy-Head Mayzie

I think the Kids are going to love watching those stories!
Good luck finding something!

Baylor and Harper would probably really enjoy seeing all of the decorations. A lot of them moved and/or played music.

I'm going to the library this morning to see what she has. After all the testing, we're all going to be ready for something fun at the end of the day.

Wow FW is really something isn't it? We went over there on our trip but didn't see any of that. I guess they didn't have it out yet since it was before Thanksgiving.

We used to camp all the time and loved it. We had a small camper and were members at a lake campground/resort about an hour from home. It was very fun and we have some great memories form that time. It was just one of those things that had to go when I quit work. Your pictures made me think of all those great times we had. Camping is such a great family bonding activity. Staying in a hotel just doesn't compare to the experience you get camping. But we learned the hard way that unless you tent camp, you WILL NOT save any money by camping instead of renting a room.

I really like the idea of the cabins too, but I priced them one time and they were really high. Maybe it wouldn't be bad for a large group like yours that could split the cost, but just for my family of 3, it's out of the question. We could get a room at Wilderness Lodge for the same price.

And the lady who stays 7 months out of the year.....:worship::worship::worship:

Some of those campers are worth way more than my house. I would love to see inside them!

The only thing that we don't like about the cabins is that they only have one bathroom.

Magic School Bus?? :faint: I used to LOVE those books!

The FW pictures are awesome; I love the decorations. I am so jealous of the woman you guys met that stays seven months out of the year. :upsidedow I went camping with Charles and his parents, younger sister, brother, and sister-in-law over the summer because they have a pop-up camper from when his parents and sister went cross-country a couple of summers ago. There were people in those giant motor homes who basically lived at the campsite over the summer. I thought that was really cool, but if I had the option and the money, I would totally choose to stay at FW.

You can come and watch some MSB shows with us this week and pretend you are a kid again!

Fort Wilderness is immaculate. I would want to camp there, too!

Brooklyn just looks so big in these pictures! Maybe it's because I spent all weekend looking at pictures of her when she was not quite two! :rotfl:

Yes, she does look tall in those pictures. I guess it's the long, black pants. And she's definitely taller and not quite as round as she was in those early TR days.

i have no clue where i left off so i'm just gonna start backwards. just wanted to warn you if my comments are out of order.....nope, i haven't officially lost my mind!

i haven't seen it with my own eyes, but i hear the decorations there are just really cool and the people there are really into the decorating!

okay, i LOVE disney world. but even as much as i love it, i don't think i could stay there 7 months out of the year. i'd want my bed, my couch, my bath tub, the comfort of my home. more power to them but i don't think i could do that!

great pics of the decorations at the fort! i'd love to visit it when we go for christmas next trip.

But with those mansion-type campers, they have their beds and their bathtubs. I'm with you, though, I want Disney World to be a vacation, but I would like to stay one of these days and just see how long it really did take before I was longing to come home.

MeMom, I just got my dd the Disneyland sing a long dvd and she loves it.:goodvibes She trys to watch it about 3 or 4 times a day and then she puts on dances to the songs. There is 1 song on there titled Making Memories and every time I see or hear it I think of you. Sorry it isn't the best quality but it is the only video I found of the song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fbh-f9_W4SI

I watched it. Yep, I'm all about making memories. Walking around Pop in the morning with Brooklynn as we look for ducks and bunnies, laughing hysterically at Jarvis and his stolen prime rib story at CP, seeing a lion up and pacing on a safari, snuggling with the girls at the close of a busy day....there are just so many incredible moments on a family Disney trip.

Next time you are there at Christmas, you can make it a point to enjoy some cider. :santa:

Love the pictures at Ft. Wilderness. We really need to get over there. Maybe this summer.

The kids would enjoy seeing the horses, too! :)

Cool decorations at the Fort!!! I want to live there seven months out the year! I think I may have just made new retirement plans! An RV at Fort Wilderness -- here we come!!! :lmao:

I love looking at pictures from Fort Wilderness at Christmas time!

I always look at those pictures and think they are even more obsessed than DISers :lmao: Staying 7 months out of the year does sound nice though I get so sick of the snow where I live that I would love to live in Florida and on Disney Property! That would just make everything so much better!

I love the pics of Fort Wilderness at Christmas time! We stayed in the cabins a few years ago and they were pretty roomy! The only thing we didn't like was the internal bus system to get to the external one, but I think that was partly because we could never figure out which bus to get on! Monday is over! One more Monday and then I'm in Disney!!!! Have a Terrific Tuesday everyone!

It will feel long. I feel some Magic School Bus episodes coming on. :)

I hope the weather is good for the zoo. I haven't been to the Memphis Zoo in many years, and they have added so much to it since then.

We'll help anyone plan a Disney trip any time! :dance3:

This week we have to do ThinkLink testing and DIBELS. Why do they make these things fall on the same week? Being a 'teacher' is frustrating sometimes, because we don't get to teach so often. We're 'testers' a greater and greater percentage of the time. I miss the fun units we used to do.

I understand your frustration with testing. I teach K,1, and 2 reading during the day and I feel that is all I do at times. This year, we had to implement a new test for K. No more DIBELS for us. This test is given 3 times a year and can take 45 minutes or more for one child. I don't know about you but trying to get a Kindergartener to sit for that long and focus is a hard task. I feel like I finish and then have to start all over again. That's when planning my next trip takes the frustration off. Haha!

Wow, those Christmas decorations at Ft. Wilderness are insane!

Living at Disney for seven months out of the year? No problem for me. Living in an RV for seven months....... ---no matter how nice it is inside, there couldn't be enough room for me.

Then you can be the cool lady who hands out candy canes to little kids who get clunked in the head. :goodvibes

Some of those campers were fab-u-lous!!!

Trent has already started hinting at me moving to Florida. Most likely, I'll be a Tennessee girl who does a lot of traveling to Alabama and Florida. Wonder how far Drew plans to stretch my journeys when he leaves the nest???

Yeah, I guess your Tuesday would be terrific, huh, with a Disney trip looming large? :yay:

How many people stayed in one cabin? Was the one bathroom thing an issue? I think it would be with us. Seems like they should have a half bath in the bedroom.

It is just pointless to do so much testing, but that's the name of the game these days, and it's only going to get worse, I think. Oh well, I have to have a job, so I muddle through as best I can.

Our Disney trips are my saving grace!

Wouldn't it be nice to go inside some of those fancy ones? I know those people stay outside or on the go a lot of the time. They had made the outside very comfortable with all of their extras. Looks like fun, but probably not for seven months. I'd like to spend seven months trying out all the different resorts. :)

Great update MeMom :thumbsup2 I still have it in the plans to go one year over Christmas and when we do after seeing all your great FW pictures , we will def be heading over there to checkout all the decorations !

I bet you wanted to break free all those stuff animals in that window !

Oh wow!!! I can't believe all the decorations that those folks put out at the Wilderness resort!! Whoa!!!!
Oh, and to stay 7 months out of the year!!! Wowzer!!!!!!! That is some vacation there!

Yup :goodvibes

When we stayed in the cabins there were only 4 of us. Patrick's mom just wanted to try them out. Since there were only 4, the one bathroom wasn't really an issue, but I can see it being a problem as the numbers go up.

Ok. I am all caught up. Wow! I Miss a few days and it takes a week to catch up. :0) Trent- Congratulations! MeMom- Congratulations on your mothers day trip!
This has been such a nice day. I am sitting on my patio under blue skys 75 ish degrees with breezes, listening to radio365 (disney music of course) and catching up. Can you tell my spring break has started and the baby is napping.
Cabins- we have stayed in one with 4 adults (some larger than others) and a child and it was great. no issues really with bathrooms that I can recall. They also just redid the pool area so they have a slide now. I always forget they are there but you guys have me thinking I need to book a trip to the cabins soon.

Those displays at Fort Wilderness are soooooo cool! I love Minnie in the tub! I wish I could stay at Disney 7 mos. of the year! :)

WOW!! Those decorations are something else!!!:faint: Minnie in the tub is so cute!! Taking a soak drinking her wine! I wonder if those are Basin bubbles? :rotfl2: I must admit all of the decorations minus the snow look a bit peculiar to me but I am a Northern girl! :goodvibes I think I could definitely manage staying there 7 months!!

Tracy

I always wanted to check out Ft. Wilderness after seeing that Travel Channel special!! This trip, each time our bus stopped there (when we were staying at the WL) I wanted to jump off and go check out the horses!

What a very fun meet! Erica, you are just beautiful with that pregnancy glow!

Thanks Brook!! :goodvibes

LOVE IT!!! That is hilarious!!

I really hate that we didn't make it over there in December! :headache:
