Ringing in 2010, 6 months til we'll be back again

I love these! Do they come in grown-up sizes, or are those children's?

Shopping is the best way to leave a park. I wish I had a pair of the Mickey pajamas to wear to keep warm.

Shopping is the best way to leave a park!

Disney World popcorn is the best! I wish I had some right now. popcorn:: I hope you have a great weekend.

I'm not crazy about popcorn, but Disney popcorn, I will eat a little of.

I don't have big plans for the weekend. Get ready for the next round of snow, I guess?

My Avery is also April 3rd!!

Lots of fun parties coming up for our Disney kidlets! :yay:

Have you tried the frozen dumplings? They're pretty good...not as good as my mom's, but pretty good!!!

I never knew such a thing existed. I'll have to look in the freezer section next time I am at the store.

I miss elementary school :sad2: My friday started off with an algebra quiz and ended with a chemistry test. But now I'm on vacation and I'll be in Disney in FOUR DAYS! :yay:

I had a picture message from Meg when I got out of school! It was a picture of Everest to get me excited for our DIS meet :cool1:

Our kids were only at school a half day, because we had conferences. They are out Monday, but teachers have to go.

I hope Meghan is having a blast! Is she in the Big Wheel building?

i have one of those in my cabinet right now!

i know! i know!

well, the snow is coming down outside my house right now. they say it's gonna keep coming down until 6am. right now i think we have about 6 inches. i'm sure tomorrow will be a fun day in my neighborhood! i was supposed to go get bloodwork done today but didn't make it because of the weather. oh, darn! i guess i'll have to go on monday though. blah.

I saw your snow pictures!

Enjoy these rare Georgia snowmen. I have a friend in Warner Robins who put up a bunch of pictures yesterday. She and her daughter were just smiling away out in the snow. It was fun to see them getting such a kick out of it.

We have about 3 inches of snow. School was cancelled and the boys have been having a blast. We have all next week out of school for mid winter break so hopefully we won't get cabin fever.

Three inches is a good amount. It's enough to play in, and enough to get us out of school, but if you really have to be somewhere important, you can get there.

Share a picture of the boys and their snow fun, if you can.

I use those too. I call it chicken pastry, but I think we are talking about the same thing. Anyone who isn't well versed in southern cooking should try them. I think they are very good. I've used Anne's and Atkinson's frozen pastry strips and both are good (Atkinson's is better). I just boil some chicken then pull it into pieces and add it back to the broth. Then add the pastry strips right out of the freezer (don't thaw) and it only takes about 10 minutes for the pastry to get done. It is really delicious and super easy.

(But Memom yours sounds even better! This is just a lazy person's recipe!)

Oh and I love the popcorn vendor picture!

I've never heard of these frozen options. I'll have to give them a try. Maybe they'll taste closer to homemade and Jill will like them better. I do the biscuits now because I am lazy! Making the homemade ones requires getting out the pastry sheet and rolling pin and making a big mess. :upsidedow

The popcorn buckets picture....quirky? :rotfl:

I love the pajamas! Do you know how much they are? I'm adding that to my list. (the list is getting a tad long.)
The popcorn buckets are so festive. I got one in November. I also saw it our Disney parks outlet.:goodvibes

I don't remember the price of the jammies. Sorry.

I want to get to one of the parks outlet stores someday!

That sounds like the same thing - sometimes I let them thaw a little and roll them out a little thinner. I'm not crazy about thick dumplings.

I just love dumplings - thick or thin. Jill is also a fan. :)
Neither of my boys care for them.

This 'chicken & dumplings dish' sounds fabulous!
I miss the down home southern cooking my MIL would make.

She made a chicken-fried steak that was heavenly!

One of my goals on the upcoming trip is to collect as many popcorn buckets as I can. popcorn::

Country-fried steak...oh yeah!

Popcorn buckets are handy around the house and school, too.
They hold lots of little odds and ends and bring Disney happiness daily. :goodvibes

I love these! Do they come in grown-up sizes, or are those children's?

They are grown up size - I have the Mickey Bar ones and love them - so comfy. My DD loves it when I wear them, too.

I'm glad you answered her question, because I didn't remember. They are so cute!

I'm having to answer these one at a time, because something crazy is happening. If I multi-quote, the cursor will not move from the beginning of the post. It won't let me go to the end to answer. Weird.

Tennessee is a nice place to live. You get four distinct seasons, and it's half a day's drive to Disney World. Two hours by plane.

There's no real recipe. I use flour and chicken broth to make dumplings and boil them in chicken and broth. I often cheat and just use buttermilk biscuits, but Jill doesn't like them as much. They're just a lot less hassle. Close to the end of the cooking, I add some cream of chicken soup to thicken it up.

Yeah...but my issue is that after having lived in NY all my life, I'd really rather only have a maximum of 3 seasons....guess which one I'm willing to give up :rotfl:

Well, I use measurements,
if you count a dash, a pinch, a dollop, and a plop as measurements. :)
I am most definitely a 'little of this and a little of that' kind of cook.

THat is exactly how my mom cooks, so when she gives me a recipe for one of my favorite meals, it never turns out right!!!

Now I am going to have to make chicken and dumplings. My moms family are southern Alabama and Tenn so growing up the C&D meals were amazing. My great aunt would kill me if she knew that I also use the refrid biscuits as well memom. lol. I will have to fins the frozen ones but being in miami that may prove difficult. Speaking of spring bdays my DS turns 2 on march 14 and my DD 11 on April 9 so add 2 more to the Bday list.
Is it bad that I have been home from WDW only 2 weeks and I am already pricing out summer trips?

A Hidden MeMom shadow!!! :rotfl:

I am having to get more and more creative. ;)

I think I know. If you are down here, though, you'll be happy to see snow occasionally. You'd get a kick out of the grocery store invasions at the mention of snow!

It's just one of those things - you get in the kitchen and play around with it. When people ask me for recipes, I'm at a loss when it comes to measurements. It works well when I can say 'a can of mushroom soup' or 'a stick of butter'. That's about as precise as it gets.

Just out of curiosity, I will try the frozen dumplings soon. I'll let Jill be the judge.

I think you are perfectly normal to be looking at new trips. I like to have one booked before we pull out of Disney property. It eases the sting of leaving.

We will get to share lots of birthday fun in the next few months, won't we?

When you say you use biscuits are they the Pillsbury kind that you knock against the counter? Do you pinch them apart and drop them in or drop the whole thing?

I've got an April birthday in my crew too! Liam will be 4 this year on April 7th. Where has the time gone???

I can't wait to see all of these April party pics!

Oooh! I love those Disney jammies! I hope they still have some by the time I get there! And what I wouldn't do for some Disney popcornpopcorn::...I had popcorn at the movies last night but it just isn't the same...actually it wasn't very good at all! Hope you're all having a nice Valentine's weekend!

Aaahhh....chicken and dumplings. I love them-but I have never made them. Maybe I'll give it a try.

I like the PJs, too. On my two October trips, when it was just my sister and me, we did A LOT of shopping, but I never saw those. Do you remember what store you were in? We did a lot of shopping-but not a lot of buying!:rotfl: I enjoyed it because I don't get to do as much on my family trips when I have three kids in tow.

I do not knock my biscuits!
Such violence.
I use my thumb or a spoon to press them open gently. :)

I use the buttermilk or butter-tasting ones and just press them flat. Then I cut them the same way I cut homemade ones, with a pizza cutter.

April is going to be a month filled with fun pictures. Yay! :yay:
That will help brighten up the month after I didn't get to go on a spring break trip and the month that's still two full months away from going. :goodvibes

They are cute, aren't they?
I get the popcorn buckets and maybe eat a handful of the popcorn, but usually it is eaten by others. I have several of the buckets as school that hold crayons, scissors, pencils, glue sticks, etc. nowellsl just gave me a bunch more. They are already being put to good use. :thumbsup2

Give them a try and let us know how you made them and what you think of them. I like adding some cream of chicken soup at the end, because I like a thicker broth, but you might not.

I don't remember where the pajamas were, but the Emporium would be a good place to start your hunt.

After the parade and the little bit of shopping, we left Magic Kingdom. Jill was taking the girls back for some rest, and I was going to Wilderness Lodge for picture-taking. It was a little cool, so instead of taking the boat, I just went to the bus stops with them and took the bus.

Arriving at Wilderness Lodge.

Since I went in the side door, I went through the Mercantile first.

I bet Eli and Sherman would enjoy reading this.

Then I went out to the lobby to behold this beautiful tree.

The amazing fireplace.

Over to the bridge and bubbling fountain, where coins were tossed and wishes were made..

Then I took the stairs and went higher to get another view.

Wilderness Lodge has so many small sitting areas - a very nice feature of this lobby.

Just as soon as we drop Baylor off for his sleep over this evening we are going to the grocery store and I'm picking up some buttermilk biscuits! I never ever thought of making them this way! I'll also try to be gentle when I open them.:lmao:

I'll put my chicken on to stew in the morning! Yum!

I wait listed us for a castle view for our entire stay over the 4th this morning. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we get it!
We always have the roof but I thought a balcony would be nice too!
Plus I added to more names to our room just in case they are asking for KTTW cards.....;)

When we get closer and have more planned if it works out and if you want to maybe we could spend an afternoon at the BLT pool...

Christmas decor.

Then I walked over to the Villas.

IMG_2683.jpg

I had on a lightweight jacket, but there were people in the pool and sunning, so I guess they didn't think it was too cold.

IMG_2684.jpg

I didn't take many pictures here, because I had taken quite a few back in the summer.

Back on the bus, I had to take this picture for Brooklynn.
'When I'm human, as I hope to be...'

IMG_2685.jpg

We did not make it to Wilderness Lodge this past trip, it is gorgeous! I just love the shopping there too!
So much that is unique to the lodge.
That Christmas tree is massive. Beautiful!

It looks like your bus is racing the monorail in that first picture!

Watch out biscuits, here she comes!

I hope the guard at the gate lets us in! :rotfl:

We'll take roof, balcony, or whatever. I think it's going to be so much fun!
If you have a webcam, I know where we can find some entertainment.
And they're cheap, too.

Thanks for the pictures of the villas, after this summer they will be the only DVC resort we haven't stayed at, well except for Jambo, but I'm not counting that because we've stayed at Kidani.....
VWL looks amazing! I look forward to the time we get the chance to complete the DVC circuit!
