Does anyone have a picture of the ring outside the manision? I look every time I go and can't find it. I am determined to find it in February, even if I have to hunt down a cast member to show me.

You shouldn't have to hunt a cast member down. There's usually one closeby to where the ring is located. Most are eager to show you, and tell the story of how it got there.

My family made it a mission to find it - we tried a little on our own but gave up and asked a CM.

Sorry to say I do not have a picture of the ring but we did see it that last time we were there. It is very hard to find and we had a gaurd point it out. I will do my best to explain where it is and if anyone can do better that might be better!

Upon exiting the ride you will go outside. The graves are too your left - pet cemetary, I think - and the building wall is on your right. Walk up to about where the building ends and look down. It will be in the middle of the walkway buried in the cement. (I sure hope I am remebering all this right, if not, I am terribly sorry). Anyway, the ring is VERY tiny. Not what you would expect to see if you were looking for an actual 'ring.' I have heard that it is actually just remains of a wroght iron post that was there some time ago.

Stay out of people's way that are trying to exit but take your time bacause it is hard to spot right away. With a little looking and some pixie dust you should find it. It will take some time but don't worry about all those people who will think you're nuts! LOL, I am just teasing! You might even get lucky and have someone walk out that knows about the ring and can show you.

Best of luck and have a magical time! :earboy2:

Thanks everyone.

Thanks phamton, I think that I did see that but did not think that that was the ring. I will try again this trip.

Yes, that's the "ring." Doombuggies.com is the Haunted Mansion fan site so their information is accurate.

Forgive me for being a Disney Dumby but what is the significance or the story behind this ring?

When hinges creak in door less chamber and strange and frightening sounds echo through the halls, whenever candlelight's flicker where the air is deathly still, that is the time when ghosts are present, practicing their terror in ghoulish delight. Welcome, foolish mortals to the Haunted Mansion. I am your host, your Ghost Host. Kindly step in all the way, please, and make room for everyone. There’s no turning back now.

Our tour begins in this gallery, where you see paintings of some of our guests as they appeared in their corruptible, mortal state. Your cadaverous pallor betrays an aura of foreboding, almost as though you sense a disquieting metamorphosis. Is this haunted room actually stretching? Or is it your imagination? And consider this dismaying observation: this chamber has no windows, and no doors. Which offers you this chilling challenge: to find a way out! Of course, there’s always my way.
Welcome, dear friend, to my humble homestead. Please try to obey the house rules. Do not play with the bats or disturb the undead, and remember: don't hassle the ghouls. Put aside all your fears; follow me if you dare, and I'll tell you some tales, my dear friend. Just ignore those howling wolves, sit right down, take a chair, and we'll see if you get to the end.

Wouldn't it be great if Disney handed out little stories about the attractions before you went on them?! It would be so much more fun to know the history of the attraction. Most people have no idea that there IS a history to the Mansion or other attractions. They get on them, ride them, laugh at them, cry at them, shiver at them...without knowing the story-line.

Many years ago a rich businessman in central Florida and his beautiful fiancée happened upon the mansion and fell in love with it. When they married they held the wedding on the lawn in late afternoon. The reception followed inside the mansion.

During the evening festivities someone in the wedding party suggested they should all play hide-and-seek. While looking for a place to hide, the bride found her way to the attic where she came upon an empty trunk. She climbed inside the trunk and closed the lid.

What she and the others didn't know was that the house was haunted by a jealous male ghost. He also fell in love with her and decided to make her his bride. When the lid to the trunk closed the ghost locked it so there was no escape. The young woman suffocated to death.

After hours and hours of searching, the wedding party finally found her lifeless body. Hours later, after everyone else had left, the husband in his grief hanged himself in the attic (now known as the stretch room). Over the years the entire house became haunted with ghosts of all types and descriptions, 999 in all. Legend has it that the brides wedding ring can be seen embedded in a brick near the exit to what is now the Walt Disney World Haunted Mansion ride.

Okay, now I need help with the doormat in Muppets. It has a key under it, but where is the mat?

Coming out of the ride on Halloween night at mnsshp a cm pointed it out to my daughters. He said Madam Leolita (not sure of the spelling) pushed Ms. Emily out of the window (he pointed at a window) and killed her on her wedding night and that the legend was that any girl who touched the ring would never get married. He was an older gentleman and told the story in a real low voice -- very cool. We rode the ride again a few days later but couldn't find the ring by ourselves.

DD 8 and I read the Dis, and this was posted before we went on our adventure in August, dd was fascinated with the story above... and I will say that dd8 did find the ring, and the key, (Muppets) and she was so excited, it helped make her first trip, and I just want to say THANKS!!

just remember that it is a story, in the true sense of disney. it really is the leftover remains of a fence. but it's still cool that the CM's play along. (it's looking a bit tarnished, isn't it?") :D

I have looked for this ring many times and next time I will find it. Thanks for this great info.

That's a great point, and yes I made sure dd knew that too!! and we did talk about the fence (and that may be why people keep missing it!) and how it does look like that, but its a much better story as a ring!! She loves knowing she found a secret tho!!

I'm so glad someone started this thread! DH and I have been looking for this for 2 years!
