Alrighty, I would like hear everyone's opinion on what time they think is the best to visit DLR out of the following 2 options: 10 days before Christmas or right after new years? I was going to go for my 2 son's birthdays in February then a kind person pointed out to me that they were smack in the middle of presidents week :headache: and that that is a week to avoid. So now we are on to finding the second best time. thanks!

I personally would probably go in the December timeframe. But getting that close to the holiday, crowds are going to be getting heavier and heavier (same for immediately after new years), so it might end up being around the same as Feb. BUT you'll have the added bonus of a very very pretty park with decorations and possibly the little holiday event thing at Big Thunder Ranch, and, if you engage in such activities, at least in December, you should have the option of the kids meeting two Santas.

We went the week after New Year's and it wasn't crowded at all. Of course the fact that it rained might have had something to do with it!! But I think if you go on a weekday after New Year's it won't be as crowded because most everyone will be back in school. And the decorations are still up.

If you want to definitely see the Haunted Mansion Holiday and/or it's a small world with the holiday overlay, then go before Christmas.

If you don't want to see either of those, go after New Year's. But both those attraction may be closed if you go right after New Year's Day.

Not necessarily. The last 2 or 3 years, DLR has extended their holiday attractions and entertainment for at least a week after New Years because most S. Cal schools have extended their holiday vacations through the Epiphany.

If the OP goes prior to Jan 5, I would suspect her family would get to still take advantage of all the Holiday festivities, and after the 5th, they will definitely experience less crowds.

Hey
I would go before christmas. You can't miss jack and the HHM!!!:scared1: I went on that ride 20 times. I am trying to make plans for 09 I'd go in 08 but we are going to WDW in Oct pirate: and Dec:santa: .  We went form12/26 to 12/30 :santa: it was crowded but if you know how to work the park using FP and EME you will be fine. The longest we waited was 30 min for nemo but I am camando when we go. I end up losing at least one person in my party:rolleyes1.

10 days before Christmas really isn't that crowded. When you get into the week or so before Christmas is when the crowds begin to build, but even then it doesn't get extremely crowded until 5 or less days before. The New Years Day crowds continue that whole week, so my decision would be for before Christmas.

We went on January 3rd two years ago. The CM in reservations said it was the day the rates went down from Holiday rates AND the overlay on HM and IASW were still up the entire time. The crowd was much lower than we expected AND we saved $$$$$

It depends on how long your trip will go. I would tentatively say in Dec. b/c of holiday decorations.

I went over NYE & 1st week of Jan. this year. It was still pretty crowded b/c school hadn't started yet due to where Christmas fell. Maybe check that before you decide.
