Riding with baby

Can you ride on Disney rides (ex: Peter Pan, small world, ect.) with baby in a hip sling carrier? Baby will be almost 1yr. old at the time and I would like to ride with him in carrier rather than trying to just hold him.

What is your experiences with this?

I am not sure about a hip sling, but I had my DD in a front carrier in August when we were there on some of the rides, I think I remember Pooh, Nemo, small world for sure, my husband says others but I don't remember.

I tried putting my one year in a carrier on the rides and she hated it! She wanted to sit right next to us on the rides as though she was a big girl. Once we took her out of the carrier after a few rides, she clapped her hands. I took that as a sign that maybe she was too big for the carrier finally!

I have seen some Cms tell people to take the baby out of the sling( this was on Peter Pan)Most times I think you can manage it, but it is up to the discretion of the CM operating the rides.

When my DD was younger i used to leave her in my Ring sling for most rides..sometimes i would take her out and sit her on my lap, then just pop her back in after we got off the ride.

DD, 7 mo, sat on laps or in between for all rides. Last weekend, she sat next to me on a "Dumbo"-type ride at a carnival. She was all claps when it ended! So much fun! Can't wait for 22 mo at Disney!

DD and DS were 6/7 mos at their first WDW trip and sat on our laps. This trip DD was 19 mos and sat next to me like a "big girl" on everything except Buzz - she sat on my lap so she could hold the gun.

We had DS at 6mos old do the rides in a Baby Bjorn front carrier. My DH had it strapped on him & it worked well.

We've done a front carrier for things, but never a sling. I would think that if you had some room to manuever (like pulling the baby toward your front) with the sling, you should be fine.

Thanks for all your responses. I just kind of get freaked thinking of trying to hold on to baby on some of the rides. It seems like the carrier would help secure. Good to know it is possible to use.

Good to know. I've been wondering if we could ride that. Maybe DH can actually beat 22 mo old DD (he usually can't beat me on that ride) :)

I've taken DS on a bunch of the rides in either a pouch sling or a ring sling.

He actually fell asleep on the Safari at AK this last trip, as well as on Nemo, slept through Journey into the Imagination.

The only ride that we encountered where they have to sit on their own is the new Toy Story Mania. He had to sit between DH and I -- where he also fell asleep...who knows HOW, since it's a pretty jerky ride!! :rotfl:

Good question -- I was wondering this myself. I hope to carry DS (19 mo) in the Ergo with a front carry if he is sleeping!
