I read somewhere that to get to Splash Mountain quickly after MK opens, you should take the Railroad to Frontierland and this will put you close to Splash Mt. Could someone please explain how to go about getting on the train. It has been years since my last trip, and I don't recall where or how to get on the Railroad. Also, has anyone else tried this to get on Splash Mt. quickly and does it work? Thanks.

Just walk. You will get there just as quick and will get to walk down Main Street and see the castle. The first 30-45 minutes the park is opne Splash Mountain will not get above a 5 minute wait anyway.

As you pass through the ticket booths, the train station in right in the center. Depending on which side you enter the park, look to the center and go up the stairs to the station. Your next stop will be frontierland. Exit the station, and splash mountain will be on your left. I have never ridden the train in order to beat the crowds. You might want to just hoof it if there is no train at the station when you enter.

the train station is directly over your head as you enter the park. the first stop from there would be frontierland and you literally walk off the train almost into the splash mountain queue. I've never tried it as a time saver, though.

We usually go to the train stop over the entrance to the Mk. We get off at Frontierland, right by Splash Mountain. We wander around here and head to HM and usually into Tomorrowland and catch up with the mass. We work our way down Main Street and that concludes our morning at the Mk till evening.

In many of the books that I've read, it says to walk at the opening because it's the quickest way around during the opening.

We actually did this a few years back. If a train is there and ready to leave it will save you time and get you to the Splash Mountain area fast. If you just missed a train it's probably faster to just walk.
Our timimg was right and we got to Splash really fast with just about no one else in the area.

This USED to be the case. Ever since they started the current opening ceremony (Mickey and Friends on the train), the first train that leaves the station is about 15 minutes after rope drop.

The train with the characters has to back up and get on the branch heading to the roundhouse. Then the regular train, which is waiting at the Toon town stop, goes to the Main Street station, loads passengers and takes off.

I disagree. If you're in the park within 5 minutes of opening and there's a train in the station, you should go through the gates and under the tracks, then turn right and go up the ramp. At the top of tunnel that you just walked under is the boarding area. Hop on and the first stop is Frontierland. Get off and the SM entrance is literally 10 feet from where the train lets off.

If you see the train departing as you walk in, though, you're better to walk than wait for another train.

A few years ago before the park had an opening we got a train and went right on to splash. We got to ride twice without getting off because there was no one there.

The opening show does delay catching the first train since it is not the one that opens the show and thus the park.

Guests are not normally allowed to ride that first train. As you pass under the terminal go left and wait until the ramp clears to go up to the train. Many times the characters and their guides come down the ramp and you can get some cute photos of the characters. They do not stop to socialize.
As soon as they are all down you can go up the ramp and wait for the next train. The opening show train leaves first and the next train is sitting right up the track.

This may not be as fast as hoofing it but it is certainly a lot more fun and relaxing!

We do it this way every year and we head to Pirates first! That will not work this time! I guess we will start our day with Splash Mountain! We find that for the first few hours the area around Frontierland is very quiet. pixiedust:

We went to MK on an EE day, but arrived at regular park opening. The train was in the station and we hopped on board. It was a really busy day, so I think we definitely beat the crowd. We got the earliest FP for Splash, rode BTMRR, saw the Country Bears out in FL and went back to Splash with hardly anyone around.

Not the ramp, please...the ramp to the left leads to handicap loading...the other two ramps are exits only. Please use the stairs, not a ramp (unless, of course, there is a wheelchair guest in your party ;) , but please, never, never use the exit ramps). There are 3 stairways; one at either end and one in the center....once upstairs, enter the train station building and proceed through the turnstyles to the platform.

When the Show Train departs, the first Guest Train of the day is on it's way from Toon Town Station, and the 2nd train is just pulling into Toon Town as the 1st one pulls out. The first one arrives pretty quickly after the Show Train departs Main Street Station. Afterwards, Trains are normally 7 minutes apart throughout the day.

YIKES!! Just repeating, pleeease, do not go up the ramps! These do not lead you to the loading cue. Again, the ramp on the left is for wheelchair access. The other two ramps are exits only...I can't stress this enough, they do not lead to the enclosed waiting cue area, they lead out onto the platform which is not safe!

This whole thread is really MOOT... if you arrive early.
Whether you take the first-avaliable train (after the opening ceremony) or just WALK to Splash...

In the mornings (as some have mentioned) Splash can be virtually DESERTED!

This is a GREAT ride, but it is no longer "the NEW thing" that "must be ridden".
Any morning we go to MK, when Splash opens, there is NO WAITING and we can usually just keep going back in (or stay ON) two or three times (or more) very easily.

The same goes for BTMRR.

THAT'S WHY WE ALWAYS GET TO THE PARKS BEFORE OPENING SO WE CAN HAVE MOST OF THE PLACE "TO OURSELVES"!

Many people just will NOT get up early on vacation...
COOL! MORE FOR US!

I agree that its probably best just to walk to Splash (unless there are mobility issues in the party). The walk down Main Street is just too iconic to to forego IMO.

It is a good point to note that Splash and BTMRR are virtually empty most mornings. I see no need to rush.

Sorry if I misinformed. We did have someone in a wheelchair! I was only telling them how we did it. I forgot that the way we did it might have been different because of the wheelchair. ALthough I thought we had used that way the year before too when just stairs were too much but ramps were still doable! :duck:
