Riding Barnstormer w/ Goofy

Yes...Goofy rides the first ride of the day. We have ridden it with him twice on past trips. You have to stand...about 30 min early...and wait for Toontown to open and then RUN to get to him first. Honestly...but we have been able to do it twice...my dd looks forward to this every time now. We've also walked with Minnie and Donald on a tour through her house, had our stoller pushed by Eeyore, held hands and skipped in with Tigger, and had Cinderalla and Snow White meet us at the gate.

My DD and I got to ride in the same train as Goofy. :cool1:

We fell into it by accident. We had ridden the Disney train from the main station right at the start of the day. We rode Splash Mountain and Thunder Mountain and then fast passed SM. We decided to head to Space Mountain but take the train there so we got on in Frontier Land and got off at Toon Town.

Toon Town was deserted because we discovered that it had not opened yet. We were the first ones there. We walked for a few minutes and started toward the Barn Stormer when we noticed the crowd of kids and people headed our way. Goofy was in the lead with a little boy holding his hand. I think this little one was a Make a Wish Child.

We headed into the coaster line area while Goofy and this child and family went another way but as we went to get on there was Goofy in the front of the train.

DD and I are both adults but we had a riot riding this ride with Goofy in the front!

It was a great way to get ahead of the crowd. Part of the reason this worked for us is that the main park opened an hour before Toon Town. I think this is normal but I am not certain of that.

I wish they could make these special character interactions a bit more random. Like, maybe Goofy could come out unexpectedly at any time during the day and ride with whoever happened to be in line at the time.

Having to make a mad dash for Goofy first thing in the morning seems to be kind of unmagical. (I also equate this to the waking-up-Tink hysteria).

My DD got to ride with Goofy on our last trip when she was 3. We video taped the whole ride. DH and I rode right behind them. It was completely random, I was surprised. Also it happened to be afternoon around 2 or 3 PM not even park opening. It was the best pixiedust:

I can assure you, it's nothing compared to the crazed moms who are determined that their daughters will be THE FIRST to see the Princesses for the day! Those moms were out for blood! :sad2:

HOW HOW HOW HOW! lol I love the pooh ride, its my favortie one in all of disney and unfortatly involves one my worst memories and would love to make it up some how. My worst memory....I my DS for the first time when he was 6 months old. When we went to go on the ride my hubby was holding him and a cast member forced my hubby and I on two diffrent cars even though we told him were together and I had to ride all alone without my son, who LOVES Pooh! My hubby told me he was laughing and giggleing and clapping the whole way and I missed it. I would love to make that up by riding with a character on a ride. I never knew that was possible. Sorry I jabber too much!

this isn't suppose to happen. Tigger was being a little disobedient that day and wasnt' doing what he was suppose to.

It boggles my mind. :offtopic: I know, but please let me share this. We took DGD to Tinks Treasures just before our lunch in the castle. She was just mesmerized by the items in the store, she is a Tink fan, and it captured one of the CM's attention. She took her by the hand and led her to the dresser, creating one of her most magical moments. I cannot describe her face as she waited to see Tink fly through the room, and as she peeked in the drawer to catch a glimpse of the elusive fairy.

The Moms who try to engineer the magic by encouraging their kids to either by pushy and rude, or by setting them up to be disappointed if they are not "first" have given up the opportunity for their children to be enchanted by the random moments to remember.

My DSIL will take her to Toontown in the morning, and we would love it if she gets to ride with Goofy, but she will enjoy being in the same area as one of her favorites. She has been taught to enjoy the pleasure that others experience, and to be happy for them. I think that is why she exudes magic herself.

Can you tell me about Tinks Treasures? I've never heard of her dresser and of Tink flying through the room. My DGD loves Tink, so I'd like to check this out.
Thanks, Joan

My DD6 did walk through the entire queue holding Goofy's hand, but chickened out at the last minute and DS11 got to ride with him.

The shadow makes it a little hard to see, but I think DS was just a little excited when DD chickened out.

DD rode right behind Goofy.

Yes, the first time we rode with him, we were not trying to do anything special, everyone just walked passed Goofy when Toontown opened and we stopped and lucked up. Now we HAVE to do it every trip. There is nothing better for ME to see than the smile on her face when all the other guest are pointing and in awe and waving at her and Goofy. It's amazing that her head will fit on the ride! :teeth:

When we were there in May we waited at the rope for Toontown for about 20 minutes. We walked quickly (no running) to Goofy's Barnstormer and got passed up by a family sprinting to get there first. Both of the girls chickened out (they were probably 6 and 9) so instead of letting our DD ride with Goofy, the MOM rode with him. We couldn't believe it. I would not have even considered doing that, especially with other little ones around. DH and DD were right behind them, and DD (who was 3 1/2) couldn't understand why the grown-up was riding with Goofy. DH and DD did get to ride on the same ride with Goofy, so she was excited about that. This is actually on our list of things to hopefully do on our next trip.

We were able to do this once - and it wasn't planned - just one of those magic moments.

Goofy was sitting there in the front seat just waiting - my daughter hopped right in - me in the second seat and off we went - just the 3 of us. I videotaped the whole ride

My son got to ride with Goofy last December. We had no idea what was going on, Goofy just took our son by the hand and took off with him. I didn't know that Goofy really did ride it with people, I thought that was just for commercials. :rotfl:

That would be so cool to have dd ride with Goofy. I won't attempt the mad dash though as I would have to tell her to run and besides we'll be with my sister and nephew and if either one of them got picked to ride with Goofy the other would be extremely upset (they are very close and we have many sibling rivalry moments lol).

I have to say I feel for the CM in the Goofy costume. I can't imagine riding a roller coaster in the summer heat wearing a heavy costume. Blech. :crazy2:

We were at rope drop last week by the train station at 10:00. My daughter saw Goofy come out of the judges tent and walk over to stand in front of Barnstormer. We were headed into the judges tent, but she asked me if she could run up to Goofy and ask him to ride with her. We had heard that he does this some days. I told her to go for it. She was the first child to reach Goofy. She asked him and he took her hand and off they went. It was the last day of our trip and I know that she will never forget it.

I am terrible with directions, but I remember this little shop being near the castle in fantasyland. I never told my family about Tink being in the dresser drawer, or that you can "see" her fly around the room, so when we went inside I mentioned that it would be cool if Tink was inside somewhere. DGD was excited at the prospect, and started looking around, and the CM who overheard us came and took our little princess by the hand and they crouched in from of a dresser together. They spent at least 5 minutes peeking inside and watching the room until they "saw" her flying around the room near the ceiling. Truely a special treat for a TInk fan.

My DH was a little rattled when I dragged them into the little shop because he was afraid we would be late for our lunch ADR, but the look on his face was priceless because there is nothing as magical as watching a little one enchanted by a fairy. The CM's seem to do this, because the lovely girl brought another curious child to peek after our little one.

Wow, I guess it just depends on the person but I would let another kid ride with Goofy if my DD didn't want to ride him.

Oh the pictures of Goofy and the children on this ride are so cute! I would just love to see that big ol' guy holding hands with a child as they went onto the ride - what an adorable idea!! I know all the kids can't have that experience. Sometimes it is the luck of the draw ... or that pinch of pixie dust.

Anyway, I might be TEMPTED to ride with Goofy ... but I think I would let a child do it instead ... no matter how fun it might be!!!!
