On day one, my four year old HAS to ride Barnstormer. He also REALLY wants to ride WITH goofy. I think I convinced him to be happy even if Goofy isn't there, riding.

My question, do kids sometimes get to ride with goofy, like in the advertisements I see? How do I improve my son's chances of doing this?

Thanks!

I heard that Goofy rides the first ride of the day so your best bet would be to get to Toontown as soon as they open and go right to the Barnstormer.... I am not sure how Goofy decides who is going to ride with him though...

Let us know how you make out. My DD would love this so we are going to try to ride with Goofy when we go in September so any other hints would be appreciated....

As Lisa 0503 said, Goofy rides the first ride of the day. We have been there for that ride before, but have never been lucky enough to have our DS ride in the same seat with Goofy. If you would like a chance to ride with Goofy, then be at the entrance to Toontown for the rope drop and head straight for the Barnstormer. Good luck!

Like, everybody else said, get there for the first ride of the day. Remember that Toontown opens after MK opens. We were fortunate enough to ride the Pooh ride with Tigger. It's one of MY favorite Disney memories.

HOW HOW HOW HOW! lol I love the pooh ride, its my favortie one in all of disney and unfortatly involves one my worst memories and would love to make it up some how. My worst memory....I my DS for the first time when he was 6 months old. When we went to go on the ride my hubby was holding him and a cast member forced my hubby and I on two diffrent cars even though we told him were together and I had to ride all alone without my son, who LOVES Pooh! My hubby told me he was laughing and giggleing and clapping the whole way and I missed it. I would love to make that up by riding with a character on a ride. I never knew that was possible. Sorry I jabber too much!

We ended up being the second train after opening. The CM at the rope drop area picked the family to ride with Goofy and one of the children rode in the first cart with him. It was so nice to see because Goofy held the child's hand while they walked the entire line to get on Barnstormer. Definitely a video camera moment!! I am not sure of your chances to be the one chosen to ride with Goofy, but riding in one of the carts behind him seems like fun too! Good Luck!!! :cheer2:

We ate breakfast at Cindy's at 8:00 am. If you have never had breakfast it goes by rather quickly. We were finished before 9:00am. So we were at the rope drop at the castle looking out into Fantasyland. As soon as the rope dropped we went right over to the Pooh ride. The first family rode with Pooh and we rode with Tigger.

I believe the key is to be at the rope drop inside the castle and I think the only way there is by eating an early breakfast inside MK.

Two years ago we were at Toontown at opening. It opened about an hour after the main park. We were walking down to ride Barnstormer and Goofy held this child's hand and walked in. We walked in after them, but since they went a different way, I thought that was that. Well, we ended up riding right behind Max who was right behind Goofy! It really was cool to be on the ride with the characters. Wish DH could have been faster with the camera!

My daughter was the second person in line to ride Barnstormer two years ago. The little boy in front of her got to ride with Goofy and we sat just behind them.

It was fun but kind of a bummer because she would have been first except that she saw Goofy and went running over to him instead of going straight into line. Oh well, we did get some good pictures though. Also, the CM's were really nice and went and got the little boy's dad so he could take pictures before the ride left.

Get your child to weare a goofy T shirt or something, that might help your chances???

Oh, that's a great idea, My son has the perfect shirt!

I think toontown opens at 10 or 11 and the charecters open it. You can follow goofy to the barnstormer, and I was lucky enough to ride it with him :teeth:

Two years ago we had NO idea this happened, but we were at the rope drop, everyone seemed to head to Mickey and Minnie's houses, but we went towards Barnstormer....... Goofy was walking out of a door near the entrance and DS was so excited to see him, we started waving and Goofy walked over to us, took DS by the hand and motioned to the ride. We said yes, so Goofy "picked" DS to ride with him. DS was so happy, It was great!!!! Goofy held his hand and walked all the way up to the front of the train with him, he tried to get DS in the seat but there was NO WAY DS was gonna go without daddy!!!! He started to cry, he was also 4 at the time........... so we let the little boy behind us go. I was in the 3rd car on the coaster and got pics of DS and DH sitting right behind Goofy and the other boy. Goofy was so sweet to DS and after the ride held his hand and walked down to where he was going to take pictures. We got some really awesome shots of them together, he spent a lot of time with DS. It was great............ that is one of our Pixie Dust moments at WDW.

My advice would be : be at the rope drop, head straight for the barnstormer and try to be first in line. Good Luck!!! Here's some pixiedust: for you!!

I said this to my friends son, as he loves Spiderman, and he got loads of attention at the character meal. Fingers crossed for your son.

When DD was 4, she and I rode the Barnstormer with Goofy -- ALONE. There was no one else on the train. We were the only ones in line for the first ride of the day. Unfortunately, DD didn't want to sit with Goofy. We were right behind him though.

My DSIL is going to try to get to the rope drop with DGD. He is not going to tell her because she may not be able to ride with Goofy, but hopefully she will meet her "friends" Goofy and Max. i have not been able to erase The Goofy Movie or the Disney Chistmas Movie form my TIVO because she has to watch them over and over again. He favorite picture is the one with her face painted like Goofy with Goofy.

We've been at the rope drop for Toontown several times and didn't get picked to ride with Goofy. The kids did get to walk in holding hands with Pooh and Eeyore and were really excited. In January we were there a few minutes before it opened. DD was celebrating her birthday and had her button on - Goofy picked her to hold her hand and ride the rollercoaster with him. Needless to say, other dd and ds were not too happy that she got picked and they didn't. It really seems random to me and I wouldn't count on getting picked as they only pick one child per day.

My thoughts exactly. She cannot be disapointed by something she does not know may happen. SHe will get a kick out of seeing someone chosen, though.

We were at WDW in January and were at the rope to Toontown before it opened. Eeyore, Tigger, and Pooh came down to the rope and started greeting everyone before the rope dropped. They chose a couple kids to hold their hands and walk in. My 2 girls were disappointed, but excited to see the rest of Toontown. The people all started heading to the left toward Minnie and Mickey's houses because the characters were standing out front to greet everyone. My DD6 wanted to go on Goofy's Barnstormer first, so we went to the right. Then my girls saw Goofy standing there. They ran up to him and gave him a great big hug. He grabbed both of their hands and walked through the ride's line. When we got to the top, he motioned that he could only ride with one of them. I asked my DD4 if she wanted to ride with Goofy and she said no. My DD6 was estatic! They rode in the front and we rode right behind them. I had my camera snapping the whole time. I was as surprised as they were. It was really cool! The rest of the trip, everytime we saw Goofy my DD6 asked if he remembered riding with her and he always nodded. It was a moment she will never forget. My DH was disappointed that he wasn't with us that morning!
