Ridiculous Products

In the Kohl's ad this morning, I see that I can buy (on sale) a cake pop maker, a donut maker, a cupcake maker and a whoopie pie maker. The first two are $20 each and the second two are $30 each.

Really?

Why would I need four items to clutter my kitchen?

I wouldn't buy any of these things b/c to me, they are completely unnecessary. Of the listed foods, I'd only make cupcakes, and I'd just use the oven for that. Plus, they only make "junk food." If I want to have junk food like whoopie pies or doughnuts, I'll just go out an buy a small amount, not whip up a whole huge batch of them at home. One doughnut is OK; 6 or 8 is just too darn many, unless I want to embroider "wide load" across my behind.

Those products would likely just collect a lot of dust in my house (like the waffle maker FIL gave me - I've used it exactly 1 time in the year and a half I've had it).

This I've learned from Alton Brown: No unitaskers in my kitchen. I don't want a gadget To use for one specialty item and sit around taking up space the rest of the time.

Alton is a very smart man! :thumbsup2

I own 3 waffle makers (different patterns) and 3 crockpots (different sizes, including a double!) so I am exempted from this conversation on kitchen clutter!

I looked at the doughnut maker when I went to Kohls on Sunday. The doughnuts are small - kind of the size in the Hostess Donettes package.

I would have no use for any of those. I have a muffin pan and an oven, don't even know what a cake pop is, and, while I bake a lot, don't want to make my own donuts or whoopie pies. I have an oven, a KitchenAid mixer, a Cuisinart food processor and that's about all I need. The rest is clutter.

My personal "ridiculous product award" goes to those disgusting plug-in air fresheners. Waste money and squander energy to make your house reek of artificial chemicals. I don't get it.

I haven't read the entire thread, about 50%...but, for those of you that are "who cares, it is only %xxxx..." I'm sorry, what do you make per hour? If said item is more or equal to what you make an hour, or it is more...you might want to think before purchasing. Is this worth one or more hours of your life? I agree w/ the OP, these are dumb appliances, all the food could be made w/o them, they just cost money and take up space. I have a huge kitchen w/ some empty cupboards, and I wouldn't think of buying any of this stuff. Besides, w/ kitchen equipment you want quality, multitask items...better a knife or skillet that you use 300+ times per year...not a cake pop maker that is used twice and then takes up space. Also...none of the items was healthy...unless family members need to gain, or are really working at maintaining their weight...a donut maker???? I've finally conquered my donut cravings, after over 30 years of saying "no"...the last thing I need is making cake donuts in my very own kitchen. Given the rise of fat loss surgeries, our nation wide obesity epidemic...these products are not good.

I love the Babycakes cupcake maker. It's perfect for work parties, since I don't have an oven.

No use for any of them all make foods that we are not supposed to eat in this house.

I'm just not a kitchen gadget lover don't even own a blender, food processer or a stand mixer.

Discovering I have more crockpots than I need now that
dH an I are retired an have a different lifestyle.

I use my toaster oven almost daily it sits on top of my microwave so is not taking up precious counter space.
