Can RideSwitch be used in conjunction with the DAS? We have a 2 year old who cannot ride some of the rides we would like to go on.

I am about 95% sure the answer is yes as long as the 2 year old is not the person that needs the DAS

Assuming the DAS holder is one of the party riding, then yes, you should be able to use Rider Switch. Add to that, I believe the DAS holder will need to be one of the first riders and not just the 2nd set of "switch" riders. If the 2 yr old is the DAS holder, then no you cannot use DAS and Rider Switch for that ride because the DAS holder must ride or it negates the return time for all members of the party.

Enjoy your vacation!

As lanejudy mentioned, the DAS holder has to ride in the first group. We have done this many times as our DAS holder is my husband. You typically don't even need to tell them how you are riding. Just go up to the podium, request the child swap and then the people riding first go to whatever line they were going to use, whether standby or FP line for a FP or a return time.

Thank you so much for your replies. I am the DAS holder (presuming I can acquire one). I am going back and forth between excitement and being plain scared. We are going to Disneyland for Spring Break (April 3-7); it's the only time that worked. I hope we can navigate the crowds okay. I have severe rheumatoid arthritis in my hip and it causes me to fall sometimes.

when asking for a DAS think of what your needs are in line.Try to focus on things a wheel chair or ECV will not help with.

some things to think about

1 you will get a DAS

2 you will be told to get a mobility device ( that you do not need a DAS)

3 you will be told you d not need a DAS

going off just what you said about RA and that it causes you too fall. I would pit this under needed a mobility device. There might be other need that you have because of RA that have nothing to do with pain or falling.

Some other things to think about with a mobility device

1 You do not have to sit in it all the time. you can push a wheel chair, leave an ECV some where and walk around.

2 there are a good number of people at Disney that only need a mobility device at Disney.

3 you will always have a place to sit.

If your you can walk at lest 3 to 4 miles a day, and only need a place to sit when standing for a long time ( or just more then 10 to 15 minutes) I would look into getting a wheel chair and just plan on using it as a walker, This way when in line you can easey sit in it when needed and you can hold your 2 year old DDon your lap and give you two some time together.

some things a DAS card will not do

make lines shorter including the FP line where you will return too ( I can not tell you how many I have gotten out of after waiting 15+ minutes and not even getting to the mirge point,

waiting for things like show parades fire works for food for meed a greets for transportation back to your hotel, car, how every you are getting home at night.

a few thing you are more then welcome to do

go talk to GR about your needs and see what they say if you get something you do not like then you can do 3 things

1 try to explain why what they say will not work for you

2 ask t talk to a manager

3 see if why they suggest will work for you by trying it out, if you find it dose not then go back to GR and say I have tried XYZ and I am still having problems with ABC is there something you can help me with ABC. ( this is really what I would do/ what I did the first time I asked for a DAS card)

one last thing have a good touring plan this will help both way with a DAS and with out one ( and since you are going during a busier time of the year this really dose help, but at lest you are not going during chirstmass New Years or 4 of July so it really will not be that bad) have a great trip.

Also be aware that at Disneyland, using a mobility device will often require you to use a different entrance. Which usually means getting a return time. Which really isn't that much different from a DAS in terms of time waiting (it does work different though). Based on what you described, in your situation, I would prefer a wheelchair (or scooter) over DAS. It will give you somewhere to sit and with the DAS pass, someone has to keep going back to the kiosk. .Especially during busy times some of the lines once you return can be long (pirates, HM, space, buzz, jungle crusie)

I haven't been to Disneyland in a long time, but the queues at WDW for FP+ can be nearly as long as the stand by queues in length (not wait time, but physical distance) and there is a lot more walking around outside of the attraction queues than in one - just wanted to put that out there so you can think it through and get what you need to enjoy your trip.
