Rides to avoid for motion sickness

I know there are some obvious ones, like the major roller coasters and some of the simulation rides, like Mission: Space. But which are the rides you'd definitely avoid if you have issues with motion sickness (and also tend to feel ill with visually suggestive motion things - not sure how to phrase that...).

For me: Star Tours, Tea Cups, MS

I can do the big roller coasters pretty well it is the spinning rides or the simulator rides.

I do have to close my eyes in the spiral tunnel of Buzz Lightyear also.

Yes, spinning is definitely out! Good to know about the ST and the spiral tunnel :)

For the tea cups, I learned that once the motion starts, focus on something within the cup itself and don't take your eyes off it until the ride stops. Since I always ride it with my son, it is his eyes.
It depends a lot on how motion sickness affects you. A friend can't ride Soarin and I can, and she rides roller coasters and I can't.
Someone said this about motion sickness a while back and it makes sense. The fluid and salts within the inner ear move around with motion, and when your eyes tell your brain one thing and the inner ear tells it another is when the motion sickness occurs. You should concentrate on the forward motion, so if you are on a bus, look forward not out the side window(you're eyes tell your brain it is sideways but the inner ear tells it is going forward). Explains why it doesn't affect you when you're sleeping (I take naps on planes) or driving.

If "visually suggestive motion things" bother you then Soarin' may be something to avoid. However, in Soarin' there is very little actual motion (just a very mild tilting of your seat) so if it starts to bother you you can always just close your eyes.

I'd say Mission: Space is the king daddy of motion sickness and lots of people have trouble with that one. You do have the choice of Green Team on that one which does not spin to simulate G forces, however there is still a lot of moving and shaking, and a 3D view screen right in front of your face.

I used to avoid all of the thrill rides at Disney because I get such severe motion sickness. I've since found that taking a Bonine I can go on more of them. I still won't do the tea cups or that spinning one at AK (can't recall the name). I also won't do Star Tours or Mission Space because people have such awful reviews about motion sickness on those two. But I can ride 7DMT, BTMRR, Test Track, Kali River Rapids, Dinosaur, and Soarin' with very little discomfort.

Definitely avoiding MS, I know I'd never survive that! I really am not sure about Soarin'. We watch POV videos and it looks so beautiful. I'm just not sure if that fast flying feeling will be ok.

That is incredibly helpful. I'll definitely try to keep that in mind!

I'm glad to hear that BTMRR and 7DMT might be ok. Especially the latter since we have EMM tickets and I'll be really frustrated if I can't even go on it more than once, haha.

Definitely Star Tours (I don't even try to ride it anymore) I never even attempted Mission Space. I close my eyes in the tunnel in Buzz. I also weirdly get sick on one scene on the Nemo ride where the ride is moving and the scene on the screen is too. Tea cups is too short for me to get sick. Dinosaur is another one to be careful of. Then there's the obvious ones like Tower of Terror and Rockin Rollercoaster. I take a dramamine every morning and don't ride them back to back and I'm good.

DD gets car sick and boat sick, but not plane sick. She was fine on everything except for tea cups (she also didn't try Mission Space, because she's too short). Tea cups were terrible for her and she said about a million times on the rest of the trip that she didn't want to ride them again. Star Tours and Soarin and all the roller coasters were fine.

I had some issues back in 2015 with 3D and motion. (Star Tours, Toy Story MM) We also spent the day at Universal and like 90% of their rides are 3D. I ended up with a nasty headache by the end of the afternoon. A few weeks ago....we rode all the mountains and the 3D stuff, no head ache, no motion sickness. I even rode the Tea Cups! Still avoid Mission Space but need to ride it to say I've done it once. I think just the idea gives me anxiety. Take some Bonine and have fun!

These aren't too bad even when I don't take any medication. I will say though BTMRR is more intense at night (still doable) and there is a hard stop on 7DMT that gets my stomach at the end even with meds, but it doesn't last. I've been caught without meds on both rides a couple times where I just forgot but they were still tolerable.

I get motion sickness just from riding in the car for 10 minutes. I rode 7DMT 7 times during emm and I was okay. We had time to do more but my stomach was telling me to stop. BTMRR is my all time favorite but I can only do it once per half day or so.

I get pretty severe motion sickness on simulator-type rides...Mission Space (orange) was bad even with Dramamine and chewing gum, and the Hogwarts ride at Universal ended my day, but I was able to do Soarin' with no issue as long as I closed my eyes during the transitions between scenes and I had no problem at all on Star Tours (although, the only time I rode it I was in the back corner so I could clearly see the sides of the screen). If you have a problem with spinning, definitely avoid Mad Tea Party in MK and Primeval Whirl in AK. I've never had a problem with rollercoasters, but my mom can't do Space Mountain or Rock'n'Roller Coaster anymore due to the motion in the dark (and because Rock'n'Roller Coaster goes upside down) and she has some issues on Expedition Everest because of the backward motion in the dark, and I have a couple friends who can't do Tower of Terror because of the weightless feeling, so those are a few to watch out for, depending on what kind of rides you get motion sick on.

I have severe motion sickness and do not ride many of the rides anymore but the worst would be Star Tours and Mission Space. I occaisonally ride, Thunder, Space, 7 dwarfs & Everest but I feel awful afterwards. Splash does not bother me at all and either does Test track or Soarin. I also ride Rock n rollercoaster but have actually gotten sick from Tower of Terror. No primal whirl or Teacups either. I have worn the bands and taken non drowsy dramamine with no difference.

Same as most people here. Star Tours and Rockin Roller Coaster are terrible for me. Another vote for the Hogwarts ride at Universal, its a very rough ride. I wouldn't do it if I had any back issues!

I guess it's hard to know without trying them first, but I couldn't even make myself attempt those faster coasters.

I'm going to be a boring companion to my kids so I booked FPs for my son and my dad (who will hopefully be up for all the "thrill" rides) to go together while me and the girls and my mum do the tamer rides. If my DH was coming (he has to work that week so is missing out) I might be a bit more brave, but I'm feeling like a big chicken at anything that might make me squeamish!
