Rides that throw you about??

Hi,
We're off to Florida in august and our daughter, whos 5, has a heart condition which has her on warfarin (the blood thinner). Shes fine to go on most rides, so the 'Do not ride with heart condition' signs don't always apply to her as she has no heart rhythm problems or anything but her doctor has said to avoid rides that would throw her about too much (her head especially) as the warfarin can cause internal bleeds. She has been on some childrens roller coasters before and been fine so she can take some bumping about but not too much. Obviously she'll be too small anyway for the roughest coasters but if theres any childrens rides that have more than a couple of unexpected hard jolts it'd be handy to know.

Any advice on which rides to avoid and which are gentler would be appreciated.

Thankyou
Emma

My best advice to you would be for you to ride each ride first and make the determination if it is acceptable or not. While many people on this board can tell you if a ride is jerky or not, I'm not sure any of us would really want the responsibility of telling you something was OK and end up not being OK. As an example, Small World is a very smooth ride, but I have been on it when the boat behind has bumped into us and jerked us.

I wish I could help you, but for something this important, a health issue that could have dire circumstances, I think the only one who could make those decisions would be you.

Hope you have a wonderful trip! :grouphug:

Obviously I would go on the side of caution, but the following rides have more jerks and sudden movements than others:

Avoid Space Mountain!
Star Tours and Body Wars
Primeival Whirl
Dinosaur
Kali River Rapids
Test Track (although not as bad)
Big Thunder (again, not as bad)
Kilamanjaro Safaris also can get a bit bumpy, but it's more like riding over rough terrain in an SUV, not major jerks

Some others are also pretty intense G-Force wise, but I don't know if she is tall enough to ride anyway which would be
RnRC
ToT
Mission: Space
Teacups (your head tends to jerk around abit when you get dizzy)

Some rides are not intense, but they run a "bump" factor in that another vehicle may bump into you along the trek. Speedway would be the worst of these because guests bump each other even though signs and CMs say not to. All the boat rides also run into the same problem, especially Splash, but it tends to be minimal.

That is a pretty extensive list, I know, but it leaves the majority of attractions. Hope you guys have a great time! :wave2:

The boat rides can get bumpy if you are bumped by the boat behind you. This would be Small World and Pirates. Jungle Cruise and The Land should be fine.

Winnie the Pooh has one part where the car bounces with Tigger. This may or may not be too bouncy for her. I would avoid the rides others have posted here also.

There are many attractions at WDW that are more like shows that do not move at all. She should be fine for all of these. :)

Thankyou all for that - pretty much what I had thought from reading the ride descriptions on disney sites.
She's ok on small jerks and bumps like getting bumped up the back by other boats etc and she goes on tea cup rides normally anyway but good to know what the worst ones are, so thankyou again

For me, the worst one is Big Thunder Mountain Rail Road. I always feel like I'm getting slammed against the side of the car in every turn.

I agree that it may be a good idea for one of the people in your party to try an iffy ride first. Also, pay attention to the pregnancy warnings and especially the back warnings. If a ride has a back warning, odds are high that it will jostle and bump enough to cause bruising in someone on a blood thinner.

I also cannot stand BTMR! I always get so jerked around that I can't enjoy it at all. I avoid it now.

Sorry, I can't stand BTM either. BAd part is it's my family's favorite ride. I ALWAYS come off of it with the beginnings of a migraine from all of the jerking. DH tells me if I loosen up and "lean into it" it's not so bad but I still dread it. Give me TOT or SM any day!

I found that Star Tours jerks you around quite a bit, but I had to sit down after Body Wars. I'm used to riding big thrill rides but Body Wars was so much jerking and bumping. I'd avoid those two for sure, even though Star Tours is pretty fun, it's kinda bumpy

One you might want to preview for your daughter is Goofy's Barnstormer. It's a kids' coaster and very mild in comparison, but I did find it very jerky.

I agree with the other posters, but the first one that came to mind was Dinosaur. Have a nice trip :earsboy:
