Rides that could go away...and other ride comments

OP It seems to be difficult for many Disney people to grasp the concept that:

There is a large, loyal majority of guests who have the same nostalgic relationship with USO as others do with WDW.

USO is a major tourist destination. I will always have a love all things Disney related but, certainly enjoy the totally different vibe at U parks.

Many cannot wait until their kids are of a certain age where they can graduate to the more aggressive coasters & rides at these parks. Depending on one’s age & their interest in movie genres (especially Mr Potter & friends), it often is the main focus of many vacations, even if time is split between the other parks. No right or wrong way to do a vacation.

That said:

Wouldn’t shed a tear to see Fallon along with F&F disappear

I would be sad if Poseidon vanishes. Really appreciate the theme & live element of a CM performing, a vanishing breed. Toss in the aspect of ‘real’ special effects vs a blue screen and fact it’s a nice break from the florida sun & heat, it’s a must do for us. They could easily adapt it to fit in with HP ala Chamber of Secrets & final battle with Basilisk

Love spiderman ride & transformers (the franchise)...hate the ride, makes me sick despite being same type type/platform.:confused3

I don't think its difficult for people who have an affection for Disney to understand and appreciate that some/many people have the same relationship with Universal. I think I essentially said that, and what I said was that I don't have the same sense of nostalgia for Universal that I do for Disney, not that I didn't understand.

In my opinion, and its only mine, I view Disney as more of an experience, beyond just doing rides. I view Universal as simply a thrill ride park. With Disney I want the rides, but there is so much more, with stage shows, wandering shows/performers, more characters, more interactive and helpful castmembers, I just find it a more complete experience. With Universal, great rides, loved them, but beyond that I don't feel any other strong connection. That is just me, not saying one is better or worse, just how I view the two entities if someone asked me my opinion.

Dr. Doom has a really good queue with a bunch of doombots and a cool room to set up the "story" of the ride, did you use express?

Yes, I had the EP. Queue line theming was non-existent, felt like I was in a low rent carnival. Extremely disappointed by the ride, total waste of time. No real thrill, like I said, felt like the equivalent of getting bounced on someone's knee. Might have been good 25 years ago, but now, I can see why nobody was lining up for it.

You lost me at Men in Black. ;)

There probably aren't a lot of replacements coming at Universal any time soon. With the new park in the works, Universal is in expansion mode. They don't want to spend money replacing existing attractions while they are building a 3rd (or 4th depending how you keep count) gate. KidZone was on the chopping block until Nintendo got relocated. Poseidon's Fury is rumored to be replaced by Zelda, but if that happens it's still years off. The only replacement I see as likely in the relatively near future (next 2-3 years) would be Shrek 4-D. Supposedly that would be replaced with a Secrets Life of Pets dark ride.

If the question is "what ride do you not like", the answer is simple: Fast & Furious is trash. But the best we can hope for is some tweaks to improve it. It's not going anywhere any time soon.

All opinions are welcome here thanks to the management setting the right vibe! It’s safe to say that most who do post here have the warm & fuzzies for Universal and enjoy sharing their love of it.

IMO the character interactions (especially the normally short wait-times) are abundant & stellar. My family has an inside joke you often have to beat them off with a stick, they are so enthusiastic. Very entertaining skits and they have always have taken time to converse and be welcoming. If the lines are short they often go off-script and that’s where the fun really begins.

Enjoy the parks:hmghost:, ps the HM is my favorite all-around.

I've always only gone to WDW is Universal just as good? I see they have a special on annual pass extra 6 months free so considering it.

Define ‘good’ :).

we love them both on their own merits...each has their own totally different vibe

Here, most will share their love. If you post on the disney side you will likely get a totally different take.

Do some research. Here, make sure to read thru some threads, including trip reports. Good luck
