Rides siblings can ride together

We usually travel to DL as a family, but during our next trip, in Feb., my husband will be attending a conference during the day. I will be going to the parks with my 8, 7 and 5 year old. What rides can 2 young kids ride together? The 7 year old only likes a few rides, so I'd like to find a few rides the 8 and 5 year olds can ride w/o us.

7 is the magic age to ride without an adult. Unfortunately, I don't think they'll let the 5 year old ride with just the 8 year old on anything. (Now the 8 and 7 year olds could ride together, but it sounds like that doesn't help you.)

Some rides can fit three. Bench seat kid, kid, adult on the outside.

I'm not sure about this tho.....our first trip DD11 was 6, DD14 ws 9, there were rides they wanted to do but DBF and I decided to skip and I remember the girls were allowed to ride without us.
OP I think you just have to ask when boarding, there will be a CM you can ask before getting in line.

I think this is one of those mileage may vary type things. The first CM we ever asked about this was very specific that my younger son also needed to be at least 7 years old. This was just when the boys wanted to ride together in a Buzz car while DH and I rode along in the one behind.

When my younger DS first turned 7 and wanted to ride certain things without us and just with his brother, their own Buzz car, Heimlich's choo-choo, and Gadget's go-coaster for instance, the CMs would sometimes ask him his age and sometimes not. The year he was 8, he was asked his age almost every time before he boarded.

Nowadays, DS9 and DS11 ride a couple of rides together, just the two of them (I like to do this with rides I can mostly see from beginning of queue to end of ride since they are still so young), while DH and I watch and wait. Even these days, DS9, who is small sized, still often gets asked his age by the ride CM before he is allowed to board with his brother.

So either they have gotten stricter and more consistent about the policy in general, or we have just run across some very strict CMs.

Anyway, OP you should be able to put the two older kids in their own Buzz car and let them ride certain things alone together if that helps you any.

That may be, but we always ride in separate cars. DD's in 1 and DBF and I in another and I know that with Buzz the girls have ALWAYS ridden together and we've never been asked what DD's age was. Even when she was 6 they didn't ask, and she's not big, in fact both girls are smaller then other girls their age. Especially DD14, she's tiny. lol The only ride they restricted us on was the Matterhorn, they wouldn't let the girls ride together at first, I had to ride with one of them and DBF had to ride with the other one. But as soon as DD turned 7 that went away too and ever since then both girls have ridden all rides they wanted to with no problems at all. We've done a lot of trips too......lol I can't imagine we never found a "strict" CM in that time. lol

Beats me. We went six times when DS9 was 8 and a bunch of times before and after. Weird that your family had such different experiences from ours. I thought the Buzz thing was weird too since we would be right there in the car behind them, but younger DS prefers to ride with an adult anyway since brother is annoying about spinning, so we didn't ask again after that first time until DS9 was 7 and we insisted he ride with brother so DH and I could ride together. Since our family mostly likes to ride things all together, this didn't come up a lot for us anyway, but now that I think about it, most of the rides that my sons ride without us were in DCA actually, and they were usually asked their ages. Wonder if that made any difference.

I'm not sure if this helps your situation. Are you looking to NOT ride the ride? If so, I'd ask the CM at the ride entrance. You may need to go through the line with them, then get out of line and meet them at the exit. If they don't feel the older child can "control" the behavior of the younger one, they won't let them ride without an adult.

I'm so happy to see this! I'll also be there in February while my DH is at a convention (Keller Williams.) I'll be spending the days in the parks with three kids, and I was beginning to feel worried about how we'd manage. I'm relieved that the 8 and 6 year old will probably be able to ride together and I can ride with the 2 year old in cases where we need to split up.

At WDW in November I wanted to ride in a separate teacup from the older two kids because I can't tolerate the crazy spinning they like to do. The cast member allowed it, but had the girls move to a closer teacup so that they would be in my line of sight.

Thank you! I am hoping to ride with them, but it depends on how willing my 7 year old is to ride.

In my experience, they would not let my 7 year old ride with her 6 year old cousin. The one ride in particular I can remember was the teacups. The CM made one of the adults ride with them.

See and I know with absolutely positive 100% certainly that my girls rode the teacups by themselves. I cannot ride them, nor can DBF and they've been doing teacups since our first trip in '06, when DD11 was 6. It must be different with each CM......
