Rides for babies and pregnant women

We leave in 9 days and I am determined that this trip will go as well as possible.My SIL,BIL and nephew are coming with us for the first time and I really want to please them so I need all the help I can get!!

SIL is 5 months pregnant-what rides will she be safe to go on?

Nephew is nearly 14 months-what will we be able to take him on?

for your nephew i would say start him off with rides like the carousel and its a small world, dumbo, the storybook ride, casey jr. if he is adventerous then there is buzz, peter pan, snow white, pinnochio. your sil could go on all of these too. im forgetting some they might come to me after

Just following on from this - which rides would be suitable for a young baby? DS2 will be 4.5months when we go next week. I think he's safe on IASW and the other boat ride (fetes de...something ), should be ok on the carousel.

But what about dumbo / buzz / peter pan etc Any others suitable for a baby?

I went to dlp last November when I was 6 months pregnant. I just avoided all the obvious rides really ie anything jerky, rides with lap bars, coasters. The restrictions are posted outside the rides so it's easy to see which you should/should not ride. From memory I avoided Space Mountain, Indiana Jones, Thunder Mountain, Crush, Teacups, Cars, Orbitron, RnR coaster and ToT. I had a great time and didn't really miss going on the rides. I was happy to sip hot chocolate while DH rode with DD! I did buy myself a support belt before I went though as all the walking takes a toll!

With a 4 1/2 month old you'll need to be careful as I beleive that CM's can refuse to let a child under 1 on any ride. I'm sure that I read this in a trip report when I was planning our October trip.

If he is allowed on the rides then he'd be fine on orbitron, teacups, cars, flying carpets and all the fantasyland rides I'd say.

Sarah, can I ask - did you go on Pirates of Carribean? I know that sounds really silly and I'm not usually a big worrier but just wondered what you thought. I'll be just over 4 months when I go.

My wife went on POTC in October and was around 4 months pregnant at the time, the signage says not to ride if you are pregnant but she found that by pushing her feet against the seat in front when coming up to the drops she didn't move at all and felt very, very safe.

Hi Cap'njack, thanks for your quick reply. Thats good to know about your wife, I think I'll probably do the exact same - sounds like a good plan! I didn't think it would really be very dangerous, especially since they put the signage out in front of rides more as insurance against any litigation against them than anything!!

No worries. That's what we thought, it's not like it's a thrill ride or anything like that and I'd say you are fine on there but it's all personal preference really.

I didn't ride but I was much bigger than you will be. If you do choose to ride don't forget to brace yourself at the end where the boat behind will bump into yours.

We went when DS was 13 months and even though there were loads of rides that he was allowed on, he was terrified of virtually every one - including It's A Small World, if you can believe that!!! Many of the rides are very dark and he just hated everything he went on! He'd got it into his head that they would all be scary so he started crying as soon as we went towards one, without even knowing what it would be like!
