Rides for all ages w/no HT req.

I've seen lists of Height requirements for some rides on UO/IOA, but can anyone tell me what rides & shows the whole family can go on? We will be traveling w/a toddler & a baby. Thanks.

Well at IOA, there are probably some rides at Seuss Landing (Caroseussel, the train ride, etc). At Universal Studios, there is the Fievel's Play area where I would imagine they have some rides for the family! Don't quote me on any of this though!

In my experience - very little. When we brought my 10 month old he was a "non-walker" and therefore couldn't even do the carousel or red fish blue fish. This was over 4 years ago and I've heard others say infants can do those rides, but we couldn't. I'm pretty sure you can do Jaws and Disaster and Shrek 4D, but those are all attractions that you may not want little ones on.

In my opinion, I would not go for the sake of a baby and toddler, unless there are older kids or extended family or friends that you are traveling with. This is just my opinion, someone at there will bite my head off and give you a different opinion - that's why it's an opinion.

We went with older kids and had a great time, and it was much better last year when we had a 16 month old.

The good things about Universal is that they do have nice play areas. My kids love the water play area in Fievels play area.

They do have baby swap, but you have to keep the kids in line with you and they let you do the swap at the end - there is a holding room. We never did this - the line with little ones is the worst part, so we either took turns with the older ones using the FOTL or I just missed out. This way I could walk with the others, find a play area, or just do lots of Hokie Pokie and Ring Around the Rosie, all better options than standing in line for a ride they can't ride.

you should have used the child swap.

after you went on with the kids and the other spouse sat with the baby, you switch adults so the other can ride then.
the kids that went on the first time with you , are allowed to reride with the other parent.

kids like to do those repeat rides in a row.

The list is great, but we couldn't do anything in the Seuss area except the playarea with a "non-walker" - maybe it's different now, but I did look at restrictions before we went and I was under the impression he could do all of them, and he couldn't. The trolley ride is newer but there is a height limit on that.

A lot of things on the list are play areas and shows. Be sure to look at the attraction list on the website to give you an idea of what is on the list and compare it to the list in general and decide for yourself how much you can do with an infant and a toddler

This is very helpful for me too...we are going next summer and my daughter is turning 1 this October so she'll be 21/22 months when we go. Thanks!

(Also my son will be 7 and should be able to do most things.)

My stepdaughter and her husband will be coming in 2010 with their kids, a 2 and a 4 year old. My wife and I will take them and let the parents go by themselves on the adult rides. We've been to the parks enough times to be able to spend as much time in the toddler areas as the kids will put up with, and our visitors will have a great time.

Some of those rides have no lap sitting so you baby must be able to sit beside you on the ride. Many babies under a year old won't/can't sit alone so take that into consideration. Also, even babies need something on their feet. They cannot ride barefoot even if they are a non-walker. They can wear just socks though so they don't have to have shoes on them.

Socks are not enough - they must have shoes. And being able to sit up is not enough. My son was very close to walking and was definitely sitting unsupported and standing, but if he could not walk in the loading area, they would not let him ride. We tried saying he could walk - they said he had to walk onto the ride himself!!!

Maybe our experience was not typical, but we found IOA to be very unfriendly to us when we had a non-walker. The Studios had more to offer - Barney, Fievels, Animal Actors.

Don't get me wrong, we love Universal and are headed back next week, but it was not my favorite place with an infant

Cat in the Hat is a little different than some of the other non-height requirement rides. The child must be able to walk in case of an evacuation. On that ride, they do need shoes and be able to walk unassisted.
