Rides for 4yo

Hi All,
We are heading to Universal in January, and I'm starting to gather info on what rides my 4yo will be ok with. He will be just shy of 5, and is 42", so has reached the minimum height for many rides. He is a bit of a thrill seeker, and is used to going to theme parks. We took him to Disney last year, and he LOVED Test Track in Epcot. He also did fine with Soarin, and Star Tours at Hollywood Studios. He is fine with speed, but I worry more about scary theming of the rides. Any advice you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

Most of what Universal has to throw at you outside of the few big & obvious coasters (which he isn't big enough for yet) is simulators- rides that only have relatively mild actual motion (some turning, tilting, shaking, etc), but they use screens and loud sounds, and effects to make you feel like more is going on. For the most part, most attractions are more action oriented, rather than horror.

All I can say is have him try stuff out and form an opinion. If he liked test track (which has actual fast movement, some jerky stuff, and some suddenly loud and intense scenerios) and came away fine, and generally is a "thrill seeker" then I imagine he'd do fine on most things.

Of the min 42" rides, the only one I think could possibly scare him from a theme perspective might be Jurassic River Adventure. Once it goes into the dark area that spooked my younger son when he was 6 as it's dark with flashy strobe lights and some scares that pop out.

My kids used to love Pteranodon Flyers until they became too tall to ride. Seuss Landing has some fun rides as well.

I dunno what the height requirement is for Mummy, but if he is tall enough I would ride it without him first. The theming is a bit intense. Kong is too, both the queue and the ride. For rides he can’t/doesn’t want to go on but others do, you can use rider swap. Many rides have an area with seating and a tv for the non-riders to wait in.
