Hi-
I get motion sick, but can do roller coasters and the like just not the spinny rides. I can't go Star Tours or Body Wars or the more intense version of M:S, but I can do things like Dumbo, or most of the MK rides. I think it depends on what bothers him, what were the rides that he couldn't do at Hershey?

The rides don't all fit into one category.

Some will be fine, others won't. It depends what kinds of things bother him.

I would read up on specific attractions and try and decide from there.

I have a bad problem with motion sickness. I don't do The Carousel at the MK, Dumbo, Aladdin's Flying Carpet, Big Thunder Mt, Space Mt, Goofy's Barnstormer. At Epcot, I don't do Test Track, Mission:Space. Body Wars. I do the 360 degree movies (like Canada and France) but I have to shut my eyes bunches of times. At Disney Studios, I don't do Tower of Terror, Rock N Roller Coaster, Star Tours. At AK, I don't do Dinosaur, neither of the two carnival rides at Hester and Chesters, Expedition Everest. It sounds like at least half of the rides, but I still find lots to do. I tried Space Mt with the patch once (we had gotten off the cruise and I still had a day or two left on the patch) and it did not help. It was awful.

the wild mouse i believe they called in hersey, thats the one that got him the most, then after that even the padel boats triggered it.. ( i'm in for a real treat). I'm the complete opposite, I visit cedar point ( roller coaster park) often twice a year. I love the fast, upside down, stand up rides. This will defiantely be interesting.. its either going to make or break the trip.

I have extreme motion sickness. I can handle the carousel but by the end of it I am READY to get off! Dumbo and the Magic Carpet ride I can maybe do on a good day. I don't do coasters or anything that spins. I don't do the simulator rides either, I have heard that sometimes they will run the show with no motion in the seats and I would love the opportunity to try that. I don't do the big drops like TOT or SM either. The good news is there is still A LOT to do at WDW!! There are many, many slow moving rides and lots of fantastic shows, the fireworks, etc., etc.....
Some people do try motion sickness meds and have great results. Some swear by ginger. I have to take the mega-dose of dramamine just to ride in the car or a short smooth plane ride. If the ride is bumpy I will still get sick even with meds.
To me, risking getting sick is just not worth it. However, he should start slow trying the easier stuff and work his way up if he is doing okay. Different people are bothered by different types of motions. It would be impossible to predict before hand. You can, however, take dramamine after the fact if you do get sick. It does make you drowsy though. Some people love Bonine, but I had bad sick effects from it. He could also talk to his doctor about the patch. HTH!

I get motions sickness very easily. i.e.: I cannot look down in the car to read directions without getting sick to my stomach.

I can ride everything I have tried without feeling icky, but I cannot ride Star Tours, the Mad Hatter Tea Cups, Primevil Whirl, Body Wars, Astro Orbiter or anything that spins or is a similator. Soarin' is fine, however.

To ride EE and RnR, I have to take non-drowsy Dramamine.

It sounds like the spinning got him. He may still be able to do the coasters, simulators, and drop rides. Has he done regular coasters in the past? I would say anyone who can fly all the way to Iraq is way better at motion than I am! Have him try BTMR, which is pretty easy, then SM, and then if he is okay work up to RNRC and EE. If all else fails he can wait off while you do the mega-coasters. You would be able to use the single rider line so you would be real quick. My oldest DD does this all the time. I would not try to talk him into riding anything he doesn't want to if I were you. People who don't have motion sickness just don't get it. It is AWFUL!!! You don't just throw up and feel great again. When I was a kid, before we discovered dramamine, I would get sick on a car trip and literally be ill for days on end. It is the quickest way to ruin a vacation. There are still so many wonderful things to do at WDW even without the thrill rides!

I am like this but I have to add Soarin to the list--It put a hurt on me something bad and it was the day we had to fly back home so I was not a happy camper!

My wife is very prone to motion sickness, but I'm an adrenaline junky. If it flips, spins, goes fast, upside-down, and feels as though you're going out of control - I love it! My wife can't ride on a curvy road for more than about 15 minutes without feeling sick.

We are boaters, and when out on the lake in the boat, she takes spells of the wave motions bothering her. At times she enjoys the rocking, and at other times she just can't handle it. She keeps getting better with handling the waves, so maybe she can "learn" to cope with some of the rides at WDW.

Her ultimate "do not do" is spinning. She makes an awful face just watching the video of teacups at WDW. I know motion sickness is hard to get control of, but I'm wondering if meds like Dramamine "help" or "cure" the feelings. She is taking it for our trip, and it will be the first time she has ever taken it. Should the meds completely relieve the feelings of motion sickness, or just diminish them to a tolerable level?

Just an FYI for the patch, dramamine and other motion sickness meds. Take them before you go to see how they affect your body. I used the patch once and I thought it was going to kill me. I had tunnel vision, and felt AWFUL. Some people fall asleep from many of these, even the ones that say they won't make you drowsy. They also can affect your blood pressure. I'd hate to see anyone try one of these drugs for the first time on their trip. My experience with the patch ruined my trip (fortunately it wasn't to Disney). I only wore it for 4 hours then pulled it off because I started to feel so strange.

I get motion sick so I've tried them all. Most make me sleepy or very slugish, not a feeling I want on my vacation. I just avoid the rides that I know may cause a problem. There are plenty of other rides that you can do. I'm going to try Soarin and will report back my experience. I have trouble with spinning and sudden quick drops, so no TOT or teacups for me!

I did the teacups long ago, did'nt get sick, but felt awful.

Only one of the disney rides got me sick. that was tower of terror beacause I get sick on straight down drops. But it really depends on what you tend to get sick on.

:)

I love RNR roller coaster, Space Mountain, Thunder Mountain, etc. In fact, SM is my favorite! But I have to tell you that Soarin' made me sick to my stomach. I was actually ill after this ride. No I didn't eat right before hand, but for some reason - Soarin' made me lose my cookies. Just a warning.

I can do loopy coasters, drops, free falls, Dinosaur etc all day long. I cannot do Primeval Whirl, Mission Space, Star Tours, Body Wars, Tea Cups. No spinny stuff and no really intense motion simulators. I really don't like to do the dumbo types either.
