Hi Dissers, I need some assistance please. How do you keep your backpacks intact while you are on rides such as RnR, EE, Splash (the drop), Space Mountain, etc?

I have a backpack that will have my ID, money, park tickets, VERY expensive camera and a few other smaller items in it. How do you keep from losing it on rides like those which have inversions, big hills, drops, and toss you around?

I am somewhat (okay, not somewhat, I am) a coaster chicken, but I will be riding each of these for the first time in May. I am really concerned that in my quest to place a million dollar grip on the lapbar, I will lose my backpack.

Any suggestions on how I can be certain to keep it with me while holding on for dear life?

You don't go upside down except maybe RnR. We just wrap the strap a little around a leg, place between legs. Just make sure all the pockets are zipped up. More problem with hats blowing off.

Get one of those smaller drawstring back packs. I bought the one that I now call my 'WDW bag' from the girt shop in ASmo. It is pink and has Cinderlle on it. Anyways, it is the perfect size to carry, holds exactly what you need in the park. And, when riding rides I will usually either put my foot throught the strap, or place it in thr store compartment that some rides have. It also doubles as a purse.

Thank you for that suggestion, :) but I don't think that will work. I really would not feel comfortable placing my camera and lenses in something that is not well padded/protected.

I am wondering if I should get some kind of bungee (maybe an adjustable one) so that I can attach it to my pants, just in case.

I am also a coaster chicken and have a solution that has always worked for me. Take the straps of your backpack and slip them up over your legs. I am usually so tense on these rides that my feet are firmly planted on floor and i never have to worry about losing my bag.

I got a back pack with a sling strap that goes across your front instead of two straps. Worked perfect - I just slide it around to the front and held it in place. Wasn't a big deal for any of the coasters. On Soarin' I did store it in the compartment underneath.

Backpack strap looped around a foot/leg - on a lot of rides, there isn't time for anything more elaborate before 'takeoff'. For anything that needs protection from water, I put it in a ziploc bag. (Actually, ziploc bags make for nice organizers. :) ) Anything that needs padding gets its own padding - for example, my digital camera is inside its padded case which is then put in a ziploc when I head for a water ride. I've been doing coasters with cameras and such in my bag for as long as I can remember and have never had anything break.

I rode the Rockin' Roller Coaster in May with my DS 8 (his very first roller coaster!). I asked the CM what to do with the bag and he said that it wouldn't fall out because of the G forces or something like that. Not quite trusting, I put it on the floor and wrapped a foot around it. I never had a problem. BTW, DS 8 loved the coaster and actually asked "Did we go upside down?" We had such a laugh! He swore up and down for a year that he was going to ride ToT but once he got one look at it, he wanted to go on Rockin' Roller Coaster instead.

I usually just put the backpack on "backwards"-- across my chest instead of my back. I go on all the rides and never had a problem. Recently I started using an over-the-shoulder bag, and still haven't had any issues. I just hold it really tight close to me, underneath the shoulder harnesses.

I put my backpack on the floor of the ride with one foot through the strap and have never had a problem.

I carry a back pack all the time, just hook the stap around your leg and keep the pack in between your legs, you will be fine, it works quite well! :thumbsup2

I carry a big padded back pack with me all the time and tuck it between my legs on the floor. Have never had any issues.

As for the drop on Splash - I keep my bag between my feet on the floor. There is so much momentum that nothing has ever fallen out. :thumbsup2

I took mine and did not have any issues holding on to it.
I agree with putting it around your leg, but do not do that on splash mountain cause it will get wet on the floor;.

and it has worked very well on all of the fast/loopy rides, etc. We carry a decent sized fannypack and my husband just "clips" it around one of his legs and off we go. Never have had a problem. :cool1:

Wow I am so glad this thread was started!! I was wondering what we were gonna do with the backpack on the rides! At Cedar Point you are not allowed to take ANYTHING on the rides. After waiting 1 1/2 hours to ride Millenium with my family I had to stay behind because we had water bottles straped to our jeans with a clip. Thanks!!

I don't know about any of the others you mentioned but EE has a storage space for your bag in front of you. I forgot and rode it with my blackberry (I was on call that day) in it's holster and it was fine, I was sure I'd lost it.
