I have read up on the rides and height restrictions for kids and am shocked by what my 2 year old CAN ride!

My question is for the following rides:

Haunted Mansion

Buzz Lightyear/ Toy Story Mania

Spaceship Earth

Mad Tea Party(highly doubt I would let him on this one!)

Have you or would you let your 2 year old on these rides?

Any opinion is appreciated! Thanks

Just curious why not the Mad Tea Party? We have "teacups" here at our mall and my 2 yr old LOVES them. (Just turned 2 actually, a few weeks ago) Although I have to admit we don't spin it too much - but she just LOVES them! (Haven't been to Disney with her yet so can't comment on the rest! But am curious to hear what others say....)

Hmmm... well my dd has been riding all of those, but Tea Cups, since she was 4 months old. We went last year and she rode all and she was 17 months, and had no problems. I don't expect her to have any problems for our trip this Sept. (she'll be 2.5.) I guess I'm wondering what is concerning you (have you ridden the rides before?) HM, could be scary for an older child (my DN was a little scared when he was 4, but then my DS never had a problem with it.) -Otherwise it's a slow smooth, relaxing, air conditioned ride. I can't imagine what the issue with the Buzz ride would be, and Toy Story I suppose is a little jerky, but you'll be riding with your 2 year old, so it shouldn't be a problem. Spaceship Earth, is the one in the Epcot ball right? - if so, that's another one, that I don't see what could be wrong with it. The Tea Cups are also fine, we don't spin the one with our DD in it. Good luck to you, but I'd really see how things go once you get there, before deciding not to ride these.

My kids love all of those rides. I wouldn't hesitate to take even an infant on any of them. Haunted Mansion is not really scary (but it depends on the child) and you can control how much or little you spin the teacup. My very motion-sickness prone little ones ride it, but usually in a separate cup from DH and older DD who prefer to spin so fast you can't see them.

My son at just under two loved Buzz and Toy Story because they're interactive. He rode Buzz over and over while DH and I switched off with our older DD on Space Mtn.

My 2 yr old did all of the rides on your list except HM.

I'm not sure I understand your surprise. WDW is designed for mostly all rides to be family oriented. Thrill rides are few and far between. My kids were riding Splash, Thunder and Test Track at 3; they aren't thrill rides at all by other parks' standards. By five, they were riding everything but Rock-n-Roller coaster (48"). Have a good trip.

All of these rides move slowly and have room for 2-3 people in each seat. Maybe the Haunted Mansion is visually unnerving for a 2 year old, but the speed of the ride is not an issue.

The Buzz and Toy Story rides are like giant video games and move slowly. No jerking around.

Spaceship Earth is the one in the EPCOT ball and recently redesigned. It is pretty boring.

Mad Tea Party is controlled by you, so if you want your individual cup to spin around quickly, you can. If you don't, you don't have to. As long as your 2 year old can sit down and stay seated for a couple minutes, this ride will be fine.

Both of my children have ridden these rides as very young children (sometimes younger than 2).

My son was just a little over 2 when we went last year. He LOVED the teacups. We didnt do the extra spinning in the middle but he loved it. The only one he had a hard time with was Haunted Mansion. He cried and cried until the graveyard scene then he was dancing.. So we did it a second time and the second time we gave him a glow stick bracelet ( from Michael's I think) and it was his bravery bracelet. Everytime he got scared he just looked at the bracelet. He also needed it for the begining of pirates.. He loved it.

The only one I was concerned with him was Toy Story Mania, he didnt score a lot of points but he wanted to do it again and again.

I should have clarified a bit more...

Haunted mansion is fine because I have been on that before. My issue with the tea cups is the spinning and if it is okay for a 2 year olds brain. When I go on, I love spinning the cups and have never not spun them.

The others I have not been on and have no idea what to expect.

I have been there with my oldest son when he was 4 and was big enough for all the rides except Space Mountain and Rock n roller coaster. I do like going to Disney versus other parks(universal, six flags) because they are very family friendly rides. Just was wondering about younger kids.

Until this thread, I had just thought I wasn't going to be able to go on anything w/ my 2 y.o. We've only been there w/ a 3 year old and I didn't recall younger kids on the rides. So YAY!!! Mom won't be stuck w/ the stroller and doing the chuck bubba relay!

lololol!!!!

Well now that it's mentioned - do most people NOT take their kids who are under 3? (I've never been with kids so I have never paid attention before - been SOOOO long since I've been to DW!) Am I nuts for going with a 2 yr old? (She'll be 2 1/2)

If you're nuts, then I'm crazy! We are going with two 2 year olds in October - can't wait!! I think DH and I will sleep better than the kids!

My DS rode all these things last august (2008, he was 21 months) and he loved all of them. He was funny in the haunted mansion...he would growl at the ghosts. He liked spaceship earth a lot, and he LOVED toy story mania. I put him on the Mad tea party and he loved it too. we didnt spin around that much, but we did a little and he enjoyed it.

We are going in september and he will prolly ride all these again and more....we even put him on Snow White, Pooh's ride, Peter Pan, and a whole lot more.

We took our dd for the first time last year and she was a week away from turning 2. She LOVED everything about Disney World. She loved all the rides and the characters, etc. People questioned why we would take her so young, but we had such a blast that we took her back again this year. It's a great family vacation for ALL ages!

My dd is 2 and recently went on Buzz/Toy Story Mania and enjoyed both. She is a scarry mary so I did not attempt Haunted MAnsion. She has been on tea cups b4 but not in Disney. No to Spaceship Earth. I m not crazy about it lol.
I m sure ur judgement will b fine.

We have taken our kids the past two years and plan to go back in September of this year. My son was 3 months when we first went, 21 months the second trip, and this year he'll be 2 yrs 10 months....(STILL FREE!!!). You are not nuts. The first time your 2 yr old sees their favorite character and goes bananas over him/her then you will see its all worth it. With DS2 it was Mickey...He saw him and went nuts yelling "MOUSE MOUSE" it was all worth it.

Plenty of people bring little ones under 3. My youngest is 2.5 and he's been to WDW 4 times. He was 5 mos on his first trip. Your kids will have a ball! :cool1:

So far, we haven't noticed any ill effects. ;) Unless you count the effect where Mom is ill from spinning so fast that the world is nothing but a vague blur.
