Can someone please explain this to me? I think I get it, but want to be sure before we go.
We are a group of 5 adults and an infant. How would this process work for us? thank you!

RS is available on all rides with a height restriction.

Your family will approach the CM at the entrance and ask for a RS pass (they have to see that you have a child too short to ride).

Part of your party enters the line (either standby or FP if you have them) while one (or more) wait with the baby. You can sit at the exit, get something to eat, do another attraction, etc. (The RS pass is good all day so you do not have to use it immediately after the first group gets off the attraction.) After you meet back up with your group, those using the RS pass (it's good for up to 3 people) take the pass to the CM at the entrance and enter the ride through the FP line.

It seems complicated, but once you do it it's very easy.

If you use FPs and then RS baby's total wait time may be anywhere from 10-30 minutes for both groups to do the attraction.

thank you for the explanation! This sounds like it will be a great help for our gang! We all like to do the big attractions so it will be nice to save a little bit of time! Although now that my mom is a Nana, she keeps claiming she isnt so into the rides and would be happy to sit it out with DS haha :rolleyes1

It's very easy to do. And it is worth it. I was able to rider swap with my wife a few times for everest and soarin, etc.

i was wondering about this to! it will be me, DH and our 4 kids. the youngest will be only a year old when we go, so there are of course rides where he wont be able to ride. and me and DH loves the big rides plus there will be rides where my 5yr old will want to ride.

Our family is me, DH, DD (6) and an infant. In most cases we won't need to ride swap since I'm not too interested in the roller coasters. However, both DH and I love Soarin, so we will want to use the RS option there. I just read in a post above that the RS pass is good for three people. Would DD be able to ride with both DH and I using the RS or would one of us have to ride alone one time?

So, for instance, DH and DD go on Soarin and we ask the first CM for a RS pass (with infant DS with us at that time). DH and DD ride while I do something with DS. Later that day, DD and I can use the RS pass to ride while DH does something with DS.

In essence DH and I each get to ride once, and DD gets to ride twice. Is that correct?

Yes, exactly.

Yep! It's a good deal for the big kid. There's also a possibility that's a little controversial. Some think it's "cheating" some think it's no different from handing off a FastPass. The RS pass is good for any two people. If you all go to the coaster, DH and DD ride and get a RS pass and you don't want to go, you have the option of deciding that you'd rather give the two of them a second ride. Again, the morality of this one is subjective and you have to decide if you are okay with it. We never did it but I don't know that I have a serious issue with others doing so.

How many people can go ride with the rider swap pass? I thought it was one (with the pass) and up to 3 other people?

The rider swap pass is good for up to three (3) people to use anytime that day at WDW, (2 at DL) Disney allows the parent riding second to bring a guest so he/she doesn't have to ride alone. Once the pass is given to me it is mine to use and I can choose my companions or give it away as I see fit.

Who you ride with or when is up to you; Disney doesn't mind if you ride with your children or random strangers. In fact a few times I wasn't feeling up to riding later in the day and so I let my dd's and my neice ride in my place.
