Rider Swap - recent experiences?

Has anyone used rider swap recently? In October, they would not make us wait in the long, extended queues to get to the front for rider swap. My daughter and I could go up to the front while my husband went to the end of the line. Someone told me they had to wait in the line now until the front. Has anyone been recently and can tell me how it worked for them? We will skip several lines if we have to wait in a 30 minute line with two toddlers before we can get rider swap. Thank you.

Rider Swap has been discussed frequently on this board during recent times.

The first thing that must be said is that if the "swapped" waiting rider (staying with the child while the first person(s) rode) THEN had to wait in the full line to ride,
there would be no point in doing rider swap.

We know that rider swap is still being done, and that the "swapped" waiting rider (staying with the child while the first person(s) rode) does NOT have to wait in the full line to ride.

First, if the "swapped" returning rider had to wait in the full line to ride,
there would be no point in doing rider swap.
I searched for posts and couldn’t find anything more recent. There were mixed answers in older posts, but I agree that they shouldn’t make you wait in the extended queue. I am asking for someone’s experience who used it recently.

I am not talking about the full line. I am talking about the line that extends past the main entrance of the ride. It’s been different since the lines are extended.

Here's a couple from this spring:

Rider Swap Process

Which Cast Member for Child Swap

You'll want to approach the actual ride entrance with your full party, not the end of the extended queue. Once you have the swap, the first party riding will join the end of the queue while party 2 and the short child can go elsewhere to wait.

Thank you. I had read both of those. Some people in a Facebook group had a completely different experience. Also, this does not work in our favor for rides like Flight of Passage at Rope Drop. 100s of people will be getting in line while our whole party has to go to the front first.

If anyone wants to know the answer, some rides are making you wait in the extended queue before they will give you a fastpass. Two examples are Slinky Dog and Flight of Passage. I was treated like my question wasn't valid, but it really changes the way a family with young children might plan their day and it has been changing a lot recently.
