Rider Swap: Am I Understanding It Correctly?

I’ve searched and read posts on here about it.

I’ve also read: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/guest-services/rider-switch/

The Disney website has a helpful hint: “If Party B is only one Guest, one Guest may re-ride the attraction with them, while Party A waits with any Guests who are not riding.”

Am I interpreting this hint correctly? To me, it means if I ride any of the listed attractions with my 5 year old daughter while my wife and 1 year old son stand and wait, then once me and my daughter are done, I can stand and hold my son while my wife rides the particular ride and is accompanied by our daughter, who gets a windfall second ride.

Is this accurate? If so, does it also apply to ILL rides? (Say I book SDMT for all 3 of us at the same time… me and daughter redeem first, then mom redeems and daughter gets windfall second ride on SDMT?!)

yes that is correct! From what I’ve been researching, it works with ILLs too (but I haven’t tested it out yet).

I would think everyone involved in the rider switch must have purchased an ILL
If no one in the party has LL, whoever will watch the child first and ride second is given a RS pass with timing based on the standby line. Then the first party goes through the standby line. When they return, the second part of the group uses the LL.

If everyone has a LL, then RS isn’t really needed, unless there’s a chance the second group’s LL window will expire before the first group finishes riding.

Wouldn’t you also need the RS to allow the daughter go through the LL twice, unless the family buys a LL for the son that the daughter uses instead?

That's how it works! My 9 year old neice was originally bummed my DS2 couldn't go on all the rides...once we used RS, she was so excited to get to go twice on so many rides!
