RideMax Users Thread (FAQs Linked in First Post!)

Is there a droid app that allows transferring saved plans? I'm not too keen on carrying around a sheet of paper with our daily plans.

I cut and paste the plan into Word, then saved the Word doc in my DropBox folder. If you don't have DropBox yet, you should get it anyway - it's a huge timesaver in general. (It allows you to save a file on one computer/smartphone, and access it on all of your computers/smartphone/whatever. It couldn't be easier to use, and only takes a couple of minutes to set up.)

On the question of why it's doing something before TSM - I'm relatively sure it's doing it to maximize your FP's. The first FP will likely have a return time that is much sooner than the TSM one will.

I don't think there is, but you can email them to yourself as an attachment and access them that way.

Thanks! Love both of those ideas. Added, download dropbox to my Disney to do list. :)

The only thing that makes me nervous about PP dilemma is what if you get a crabby CM that won't take the FP after it's original time? It looks as if you get them all in the morning and then use them up one right after the other in the evening so I'm sure one or two would technically be expired.

If you look at just one or two items on any RM plan something might look strange or against the conventional wisdom. But you have to remember to think of the plan in the whole. The goal of the RM plan is to save you the most time in total. So depending on how your particular plan works out for a day, it might have you doing something strange or in an order you'd never expect because it saves you minutes in the end.

I've used it for 3 trips now during very busy weeks and it has never failed. We too were very skeptical the first trip, but it didn't take long to become believers. If nothing else make plans for your whole trip and give it a fair try the first day. you can always bail on it the rest of the week if you aren't convinced after that first day.

I actually skip a step and save the html file that Ridemax produces to my Dropbox folder.

Super easy and effective!:cool1:

In all my trips to the world I have never had a CM not take a fast pass after it had expired. They ALWAYS look at the start time but really do not care about the end time. I am sure if there is a change in this that it will be posted on the DIS. I do not think it has caused any issues so they do not stop folks from using them late.

I have read in the past of a couple of people having an issue. Others have been told it didn't matter. That's why I think it depends on if the CM is cranky. :rotfl:

I didn't see this in the FAQs, probably because it is not something that comes up frequently ;)

We are going to WDW in September 2011.
Our extended family is taking a group trip to DL in May/June 2012.

If I purchased a year subscription of RM (like in July / August 2011) for WDW, could I transfer it to DL after our fall 2011 trip to get ready for the 2012 California trip?

Would it be better to get the 3-month option for WDW, and then purchase a different 3-month option for DL?

Any advice on how to do this?
We've never been before to either WDW or DL.

thanking in advance.

I posted this a while back, no suggestions yet.

Anyone have any advice on transferring a year WDW subscription to a DL plan mid-way through the year? or is my only option to buy them seperately?

thanking in advance.

I would guess that you cannot, but I would email RideMax and ask. They will be the ones with the definitive answer. :)

I just ordered ridemax and it won't download any information to my comptuer. It keeps coming up with error. It says to check to make sure I'm connected to the internet, which I am. Then it says I might need to to change the filters on the computer for it to work. Which filters? I've tried some and nothing has worked so far.
Can anybody help?

Your post got me thinking. Does Ridemax work with the new Windows 7? The last time I used it was with XP. I wonder if that might cause problems? Sorry, I can't help you. I'm not too good with computer glitches. But I would email them and ask. They had good customer service last year when I used them.

Yes, it works with Windows 7 as that's what I have. It might be something with a firewall, but I'd definitely e-mail and ask.

I need help!! Just got the RideMax on Thursday and I'm ADDICTED!!

I made the mistake of trying it at work and....well....didn't get much work done!! :surfweb:

It's really fun and making me think about our days in a different way.

I haven't read through all 100+ pages of this thread, but I have looked through quite a few and I'm not seeing as many post-trip reports as I'd hoped. Like, "here's how RideMax worked for us". I did see Bellebookworm's, which I really enjoyed. Would love to see more like that. :thumbsup2

Also - anyone else trying to run plans for after Star Tours reopens? My trip is in June so I am playing around with May dates until June comes out. When I try to plan for DHS and put in Star Tours, it has me get a Fast Pass for it first thing and then doesn't have me riding it until like four hours later. This is one where I only put MuppetVision, Great Movie Ride and Star Tours...and it gave me 3 hours of free time. Seems kinda crazy - maybe they are expecting SUPER long waits 'cause it's new. :confused3

Anyway...I'm having fun with it and I know it's better to use closer to our dates but I just had to start playing with it. :)

You will get 3 hours of free time because you put in only 3 rides and given the start and end time of your day that you put in (or defaulted to), that is the "extra" time you have. Ridemax defaults so that your last ride goes to the end of your day, so the free time is always sandwiched in the middle somewhere.

Using the fast pass 4 hours later could be because they expect the wait that long with SWW and the ride opening up and all. It could also be that they are minimizing your overall wait for the day by doing other rides that first because that is the best time to do them, and because you have a FP for ST, you can do that anytime later.

A suggestion that was given to me and I tried, mostly because it was so fun to play with Ridemax!! was to take a ride I am interested in and put it like 10 times. That would be the only ride. Then you can see how the wait times change during the day for that ride. I did this with Dumbo and was able to see the difference between riding it first thing and waiting just 30 minutes. Quite a difference.

Opened up RideMax today and got a notification that they have a beta version of a web-based system! :lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc I pulled it up on my phone (basic smartphone, Android-based) and it seems like it will be an awesome help! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

(Sorry for the overuse of emoticons but I am SUPER excited about this new functionality... especially since it seems like it may allow me to leave my laptop at home now! Woo! :D)

ETA: AND it features the ability to save plans! YAY!

Okay this post has just about sold me :-). So I believe that you can have rm on two computers if I understood previous posts. But I'll have my netbook and iPhone with me at wdw- does that count as my two computers or can I still download on my home computer for easier fiddling around with the schedules and printing before our trip? Or will my iPhone mean I have to give up access from either my netbook or home pc? Thanks!
