Ridemakerz

I originally asked this in the DISDads forum, and I'm not sure where else to post this, so here goes:

The boyfriend and I will be heading to WDW in September and I was hoping I could ask you guys about the store Ridemakerz in DTD. He doesn't know it exists, and I would like to keep it that way until we get there. He's a VERY amateur RC enthusiast - by which I mean he has a small helicopter he likes to annoy our dog with - but I know he would LOVE this store. The problem is, I don't know much about it and their website, while semi helpful, doesn't give me a guy "cool factor". Should I take him? How much should I be prepared to drop on his creation? How much time should we expect to spend there? Do they have a "guy care" area where I can drop him off and enjoy the parks while he drools over RC cars? Just kidding. Any info or stories of your experiences would be great - thanks so much guys!

DH and I took our 10-year old son there in March. He and my husband had a great time. There were a lot of cars to choose from -- I can't remember the base price. I believe the base price included everything, but of course my son upgraded just about everything We spent $118 on his car. It was bigger than I expected, but they had a box that everything fit into. We were able to put the box into a duffle bag for the flight home.

Usually I am bored by this kind of thing, but I really enjoyed watching my son construct his car at Ridemakerz. They have 'pit stations' set up to assemble the cars -- I figured that my son would pick everything out and someone would put it all together, but he got to do it himself.

I think your boyfriend would have a great time

The Ridemakerz has been moved into the Team Mickey shop in DTD as the former location is being retrofitted for the new Bowling Alley. Seems like a lot less choices not, but I admit I didn't look too closely.

My husband loved it also. He and my DD built a car and dropped over $100 and then went back and got more options. So many options and they love the car. It is well built and fast. It is a lot of fun!!!!
