Ride Spoiler, Yay or Nay?

I watch spoilers and don't feel it detracts from experiencing it in person.

I spoiled FOP for myself and I wish I hadn't. I also found out who Kaiser Soze was before I saw the movie. I actually hate myself.

No! I like to wait to see for myself. I didn't watch anything about HEA or Pandora before we went last June. I'm also staying away from any Toy Story Land footage so it can all be a surprise when we go early August.

I try hard to avoid spoilers. I have watched ride videos before trips with my youngest, most nervous child sometimes though.

Kaiser Soze? Ouch. Of all the things to get spoiled on, that one would be pretty painful (awesome movie).

I could not agree more. I was reading a newspaper article about the movie - local publication - and these were the days before "spoiler alerts" were a thing, or probably even coined as a phrase, and the article mentioned who KS was fairly early on. I tried to stay away from the movie in the hopes of forgetting about it and broke down and watched it several years later. I still loved it and found it thrilling in spite of knowing but I will always wonder if/when I would have figured it out.

I'll watch enough of a spoiler to find out if my husband can/will ride it. He has very specific rides that he will/won't do so if I've never done the ride before I'll watch if I think he might actually go on it. If it's a ride that I already know he won't go on it I probably wouldn't watch but only because I find them to be kind of boring to watch.

I watch YouTube videos when there's a ride that involves a drop because I can only handle drops to a certain point... I HATE that feeling in your stomach. I must say that I watched so many videos of Expedition Everest (because I was afraid of a certain part I'd heard about) that I knew everything and nothing was a surprise. I ended up going on it, loved the part I was afraid of and was able to handle the main drop. My sister came off the ride and announced it was THE best roller coaster she's EVER been on, and she's been on many. I realized that she knew nothing about the ride whatsoever, and I really think that it was element of surprise, not expecting it to do what it does that made the ride so much better for her. Don't get me wrong, I really liked it, but I think it would've been even better if I wasn't anticipating each part.

Yet, I will probably continue to watch spoilers if it involves a drop because my fear outweighs my desire to experience a ride without knowing anything about it. I wish I didn't have an aversion to drops so I could go on rides without any worries!!

I read/watch everything I come across... and have never felt a first experience was spoiled. It just builds my anticipation. Things are always better in person.

Being the only thrill-ride lover in our usual travelling party, it also means I am confident to say "C'mon, you are going to love it!" or "where would you like to meet when I get off that ride?"

Do you do ride spoiler? Prior to experiencing? For example, I been spoiler free of Pandora. I have no idea what it looks like or the rides. I want to see it for the first time being there. But, I know people who watch YouTube videos of new rides first.

I'll watch plenty of videos, Disney releases, listen to the podcasts, ect. However, I am adamantly %100 opposed to watching ride through videos. In my opinion it spoils a lot of details and the filming can really ruin the experience of others.

Basically, I stick to promotional material which gives one an excellent overview without really ruining anything.

Thats tough... When I was younger, if I was nervous for a ride I would watch some POV's (RNRC and EE, now my favorite rides!) I definitely did not watch a spoiler for the new Soarin' Around the World, that would be a horrible idea! Honestly if it's just a roller coaster POV's are fine, they don't affect the excitement or adrenaline or overall fun, but cool, high-tech rides like Pandora or Soarin' i'd keep spoilers away

The only thing I ever avoided, spoiler-wise, was Happily Ever After, I wanted to see it for real. (Also is there anything more disappointing than fireworks videos?) rides, meh, it’s not going to greatly affect me one way or another.

I’d prefer to be spoiler-free, but my youngest gets anxious about anything more thrilling than a carousel if she hasn’t ridden it before, even though she’s loved everything she’s tried, even genuine thrill rides (she’s only just tall enough for the big coasters this year, so we’ll see about those soon!)—watching the POV videos has convinced her to try a lot of things she was originally to scared to ride. (So it’s been worth it to be spoiled for me!)

I'm trying my best to stay spoiler-free on Toy Story Land while still gathering enough information to know what I need to do. I'm not watching any of the ride videos, but I know what the rides are and have FastPasses for them. I did the same with Pandora last year.

It doesn't bother me because no spoiler is ever as good as experiencing it yourself. If anything spoilers just get me more excited.

I'm impressed by y'alls willpower. When something new comes out at Disney, I hate the idea of waiting 1+ years to ride it and experience that, when videos are available. An exception is shows or dark rides- I won't watch those- but things like Slinky? I wanna see what it looks like, and also, I am a huge coward and kind of need to be prepared in advance with what the drops look like. haha.

Never want to see a ride before we experience it. We want our first experience with the ride to actually be the ride. We like to be surprised.
