Ride share drop-off at Resort: restrictions?

Edit: if you've encountered a restriction while trying to get dropped off at a resort, feel free to share your situation here so others can be informed of what to expect!

Assuming you do not have a room reservation or an ADR for a table service meal there, what restrictions are there on being dropped off by a ride share (Lyft/Uber) at a WDW Resort?

I've heard rules have changed recently around this, and some of the things I've done in 2020/prior may not be allowed anymore.

Examples:
  • Being dropped off at the Poly in the afternoon/evening to visit Trader Sam's
  • Being dropped off at the Contemporary to walk to MK entrance
  • Being dropped off at the Beach Club to walk to the International Gateway entrance of Epcot (haven't done this one before but was considering it for proximity to Remy)
Are there specific restrictions on these drop-offs in place now? Specific times (like mornings) when these restrictions are enforced?

I understand why my latter 2 examples could be restricted; honestly it's getting to Trader Sam's I'm most concerned about. 😅

Very hit or miss on all of those. Although I understand in the Epcot area being dropped at the Swan or Dolphin is more reliable.

For the Poly, just request being dropped at TTC. I think that's the official drop off location for MK anyway. And it's adjacent to the Polynesian.

Only a resort reservation or a dining reservation will get you through the gate at Epcot or monorail resorts according to recent posts. That was definitely so when we were there in November; we saw several cars turn and leave the guardpost.

You can go to any resort by Disney transportation, no reservations needed.

As a result, I agree that a TTC dropoff would be simplest, making your way elsewhere by Disney transportation.

The TTC-to-Poly walkway takes only about 10 minutes. You'll come out at a corner of Pago Pago and can pretty much follow your nose from there.

Yeah, looks like that will be my plan for Trader Sam's then. I've made that walk before but somehow forgot all about it. Thanks!

Will I be able to Uber to the Poly if picking up a mobile order from Kona Cafe?
I would be highly surprised if that worked because mobile orders do not show up as ADRs. Security at the gate will actively check to see if you have a room reservation or a dining reservation. I don't think they can see if you had a mobile order to pick up. Your safest bet would also be the TTC. Hopefully someone else will correct me if I'm wrong and it is safe for you to do so.

No, you must have a dine-in reservation. Various posters have said they tried to plead mobile order pickup at the guardpost with no luck.

As KrzyKtty101 said, dropoff at the TTC with the short resort loop monorail ride (Poly being first stop) or the walkway is necessary.

Follow-up question:
Are drop-offs allowed at any of the Skyliner resorts?

I've read reports of rideshare being turned away at Riviera. I haven't read of any at CBR, Pop or AoA. That doesn't mean they haven't occurred, of course!

Not sure about now, but there have been times when you are not even allowed to create a mobile order for the Poly unless you are physically there or a registered guest. An error message pops up when you try to enter the order.

We are driving down to stay at the Poly at the end of May. My son and his wife are flying in. Will they have any trouble taking Uber to the Poly since they are not the lead guest on the reservation? They are listed as guests on the reservation, of course. It's our first time staying at the Poly and our first time traveling the multiple groups. Just want to make sure they won't be turned away at the gate. Thanks!

I'd make sure they have the reservation number and the lead guest's name.

Yes, as above, just tell the guard they’re checking in to stay on your reservation and give your name. The guard will probably want to see a photo ID from them as well but that’s routine.

I've been dropped off at various resorts by uber too many times to count. I think one time the guard scanned my band, every other time the driver shows their license, says dropping off and gets waved through.

Recently? Which resorts?

Thanks for all of the updates. We are plotting the best way to get to the Contemporary this Sunday morning for 8:00 am Easter Mass, so appreciate the up-to-date information.

This has been my experience as well. We've been several times since COVID, most recently this last December. I've had push back once (Contemporary), but have never had a single experience where I was turned away. I'd say we Uber/Lyft to another resort ~5 times a trip? Never had issues with it.
