Does anyone ride on there own while family/friends wait for you. Is it still fun.

I did Big Thunder on my own last year as the others went off to splash again! it was great fun but I giggled like a loon all the way round and earned some very peculiar looks from the people in the carriage in front of me :rotfl2:

We go in the single rider line as its aways faster- we have no problem riding alone!

my son always rides Mission Space alone, while the 3 of us play the interactive group game in the exit area while we wait for him....

he loves the ride and doesn't mind riding alone...

in september when my daughter and i went to WDW by ourselves, my daughter rode tower of terror by herself several times...i went with her in the line, but went down on the regular elevator (i can't ride ToT anymore due to a brain tumor)....my daughter didn't mind riding ToT alone....she loves the ride whatever way she rides it..

Yes, quite often me or my wife will go on rides that are not suitable for Joshua alone.

I honestly don't think it is as much fun, although these days we do concentrate on Josh and tend to only go on rides with him most of the time.

I was the only one in our family to do ToT last time. Sure it was great but it would have been so much better if they'd been there to share the experience.

on ToT, the line takes long enough that my daugther has time to 'make friends" with the people on the ride with her.....so that makes it more fun...

one of the times, we were standing in line behind 2 CMs who were riding ToT on their day off....she teamed up with them and had a great time.... they did some funny things on the ride...the pictures are hysterical....

another time there was a guy in line riding alone, so she teamed up with him.....sort of like when you go skiing and you double up with someone on the chairlift...gives you someone to talk to.....

my son isn't as much of a social butterfly as his sister, but he usually also ends up getting to know the people he rides MS with...(last year, one of the riders with him was a single rider from Scotland - a 12 year old boy)...

Back on Jan '04 our children were 18 mths and 2.5. So me or my wife would ride some attractions alone. Its fun, but just not the same. American's are generally friendly so you can share a "wow" moment. I don't remember going on the same ride a few times (except maybe Spider-man, we both love that one), when before children we would go on the same ride over and over.

I generally have to do Mission:Space alone as it makes Scott sick. I think it's just as fun, especially when you're in a capsule with people who have never ridden before - it's great hearing them react! Scott likes several rides I hate (Splash mountain, ToT) so I'm quite happy to wander off alone and do stuff by myself.

The main problem we find with doing certain rides solo is that a lot of them have pre-shows and can be quite long.

Remember my wife going on the Shrek ride last August and she was gone over 3/4 of an hour.
So if there is a queue we find it doubly hard and often never bother with rides that have a fair wait involved.

Test Track was similar, I was very keen to try it but the wait was 30 minutes and just wouldn't have been fair - at least on Joshua's rides we can plan in so that we can get on them, several times in most instances.
Rode Woody Woodpecker 6 times on the run with Josh last March ;)

depending on the ride, your family can be with you in the line and preshow - and then they can leave by the chicken-out door.....that's what i do on Rock and Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror....
For Mission Space, the exit area has a fun game for people waiting, so we just all go to play that while DS heads for the single riders line....

My DD and I rode the Mummy as single riders last time, we are so pleased that we did as the standby line was huge!
We didn't mind riding this way, we still got on the same time just ended up in different cars.

Yes Beth I realise that - just that Joshua is Autistic and doesn't really like waiting around, patience is not a strong point for him, hence any queue we really like to try and avoid...although he is getting better with each visit.

And we manage fine at his rides as we have GAC cards for Universal and Disney.
Although to be honest we tend to plan things pretty well and often do not need to use them.

I should have said that. I know that your son is autistic and probably all lines aren't the best place.
I just wanted the original poster to know that non-riders can also go into many of the lines and pre-shows (assuming they're able to be in line).

Yes I agree it was worth mentioning Beth :)
