Ride photos WITHOUT Memory Maker?

Ok would like to get a definitive answer on this one. On our last trip, we purchased Memory Maker and had MagicBands so of course all of our ride photos were "automagically" sent to our account.

This time around I don't want to purchase Memory Maker but might want some of the ride photos. With our MagicBands will they still link automatically to the MDE account? If we end up with a Photopass card (I think they still give those out to non-Memory Maker people when you get a photo taken at a non-ride location correct? Once I link THAT Photopass card to my MDE account, will any photos taken from that point forward (ride or otherwise) just require MagicBand? Or would I still need to show the Photopass card? Or maybe they don't do that at all?

And of course for rides...I know last time we still were tapping the MagicBand at ride photo locations to get the photos added, and then ended up with several of them in our account. Will we still need to do that without a MagicBand?

Just wondering how it really works these days? I think the only thing I might want would be ride photos, and maybe some photos at the waterparks if any are taken there. So how do those work? MagicBand to the photographer? Card? Both?

Looking for somebody who has recent non Memory-Maker ride and other photo experience.

Thanks!

Went in April and did not do memory maker

All ride photos and videos went on band and we could purchase though photo pass website

GREAT to hear! Thanks for the quick response! Sounds like we don't need to worry about tapping band at the photo location after the rides either?

Just makes it easier to decide because this is supposed to be a "cheap" Disney trip and shelling out that money for Memory Maker just isn't in my plans!

Yes never tapped band to anything except photographer scanner. Never for ride

Even forgot about ride pics and videos until we saw them on website

So not to hijack this thread but...what is the scanner under the ride photos for? Just cards not Magicbands?

Cards, and when magic bands are old and lose their long range ability you can scan them and still get the photos. Of course that's only for rides with the scanners at the end, some rides don't have anything to scan.

And yes, you don't need anything extra to get ride photos and videos. They'll all be linked into the photopass website for viewing. You can then purchase individual items if you wish.

Can't you purchase an "attractions only" memory maker type card?

Yes, Attractions+...copied this from some info

VERY helpful...thanks everybody!

We may have to look into attractions only. I'll update this when I return if I remember!

I think I am starting to understand how it works. Trying to reconcile in my mind how this would work to what I remember about the photos they use to take. So here is where I am confused:

1. They use to have a 10-15 screens where they showed each "cars" photo as they came off the ride rotating every few minutes. Is there now a mickey ball scanner under each screen for you to tap your magicband to? How does it know which photo you want to associate to your band?

2. Do the street photographers also have the ability to have your tap your magicband?

3. We have 7 people in our group all linked via MDE. If I tap my band, will the whole party be able to see the photo? Or does each person have to tap their band for the photo to show up for them?

1. No. (Read post #4.) There's a sensor at the point of the ride where the photo is taken that detects your Magic Band and automatically adds it to your account.

2. Yes. (Again, per post #4.)

3. As long as they're all on your Friends and Family list, all pictures will be visible to everyone.

Do we know for sure Attractions+ is current and still in existence? Has anyone purchased this recently? I really need to know before we arrive incase I have to buy the full fledged memory maker. I don't want to wait and spend that amount of $ and not have the 1st 3 days. Thanks!
