Ride Photos in Memory Maker

I know that for those with magic bands the ride photos are supposed to be added to your memory maker (or Photo Pass) account automatically. But for those without magic bands, can you just scan your park ticket to the Mickey underneath the ride photo?

I'm asking because I'm sharing Memory Maker with a friend and their family won't have magic bands. Also, I was in WDW for one day this past October with my wife and the photo system missed my ride on Test Track (we did single rider line) but got my wife's ride. Is it a good idea to be safe and just scan your band by the Mickey with your ride photo? Or am I completely misunderstanding why those Mickey things are there under each photo screen?

Yes, that is what you do if you don't have a Magic Band and that is why they are there. We usually look at our picture after the ride so we go ahead and scan our band since we are standing right there. Doesn't hurt, but it's not necessary if you are wearing a Magic Band.

Thanks, that's what I figured but I haven't seen it mentioned in any of the articles on Memory Maker that I read. I noticed them on my earlier one day trip and figured that had to be what they're for. Like I said, they actually missed one of our ride photos with the magic band so I think I'm going to scan all the pictures on our upcoming trip.

You can fill out the lost photo form to get your missing photo. Since you have your wife's photo, they'd probably be able to find yours pretty easily since I imagine they are around the same time.

But yeah, you may as well scan your band if you're standing there looking at your photo anyway!

We didn't pay for the Memory Maker for our one day trip so it didn't really matter as I wasn't actually going to download it. But it did provide a good learning point to scan my band at the ride photos.

So I've read about sharing Memory Maker with a friend and thought I understood how to do it but when I go and try I don't seem to be able to do what I want.

How do I link my MDE account (with my family members all on that one account) with my friend's account (with his family members) for purposes of sharing memory maker? I don't see any options for linking a separate account on the friends and family page. Am I missing something?

Are your friends on your Friends and Family list? As far as I know, someone has to be on your Friends and Family list in order to share your Memory Maker.

One note, the 7 Dwarfs Mine Train does not have a scan point after the ride so the only way to get those photos and video is with a Magic Band.

So, do I just add my friend by name the same way I added my kids to my MDE account? But then how do I link his MDE account? Also, do I have to add his entire family by name or just him?

You have to send him a friend request, which he has to accept. Then he will show up in your family and friends.

Yeah, that's what I thought. I just don't see where to do that. I don't see a link to send a friend request.

In the upper right hand corner on your MDE account, there's a Mickey head w/ a circle and it says My Disney Experience. Hover over it and a pop will show, there you will see "My Family & Friends". When you click that, at the top right corner under the Mickey head it says"+ Add Guest". The next page say "how do you want to add your friend?", check "by entering his or her name". Add the name of your friend and at the bottom check " I will invite this friend to make plans with me through his or her Disney account" and add the persons email address.

NOTE: They will get an email to accept the invitation BUT this never works. They must go into their MDE account and accept it from there. And you only have to add him, his entire family will follow as long as they are on his MDE account.

So we're going in about a week and I just had one follow up question to this note. I don't actually see my friend's family in my MDE account, only my friend. Will I still have the photos that may be linked to my friend's family's RFID cards as well? Meaning is it an issue that I can't see my friend's family members in my account?

No, I believe you do have to have all of them listed on your friends and family list. If you go into the list and click "add a new guest" there is an option for "browse people I may know." Your friends family members should show up there. You can add them pending your friends approval. Your friend will have to log in and should have notifications to approve your requests to connect with each family member.

Thanks. I added the other family members. Now one more question. If my friend is offsite, what exactly is the process for making sure his pictures go on his MDE account, and by extension, my account? It seems like he needs to get a Photo Pass card, correct? But then how does he link the Photo Pass card with his MDE account? Or can he just use his RFID ticket card?

Yes, your friend will need to get a Photopass card (he can just ask the photographer who takes the first picture to add it to one). Then, enter the number of the card on the Photopass website: https://mydisneyphotopass.disney.go.com. The photos will then begin appearing on the account. Be sure to take a picture of the number on the card or write it down as soon as he receives it so that if it's lost you can still access the photos and just get a new card.

The ticket may also work, I just don't have any personal experience with that. Just ask the first photographer; they should know what they can scan. You can always check to make sure the photos are showing up. There is usually only a short delay between the time the photo is taken and the time if shows up on your account, so I usually check on my phone while in line or at lunch just to be sure things are working properly.

Great. Thanks for your help.

What do you do if they have the wrong photo in your account (I just deleted it but was there anything else I could've done to get the right photo?)

For the wrong one, just do as you said and delete. If you're also missing the correct shot from that ride (or any other photos) there's a "report missing photos" feature. Provide your best description of time, place, description of the rider and they usually find it for you.
