Ride maintenance in January?

Just read that WDW sometimes close down rides for maintenance in January. Has anyone experienced this?

There are usually a few attractions that are closed off season. One of the water parks usually closes, last year it was Blizzard Beach. We already know Small World will be closed. I'm going in Jan. as well, and I'm expecting a couple of other things to be closed. Disney will post closures on their website as it gets closer to the time.

We have been the last 3 years in Jan and have only had minor closings. This past year both Time Keeper and Carrousel of Progress were open (think that was because Alien Encounter was closed for the transition to Stitch). But they were both closed the 2 previous years.

This past Jan. Country Bears closed on certain days of the week for rehab and again Alient Encounter/Stitch was closed. But that was all that was closed in MK. In MGM the only thing closed was the Backlot tour - due to changing it to the new Stunt Show and Radio Disney. In AK, I don't remember anything being closed. At Epcot, it was Wonders of Life (which I hear is still closed).

So really there weren't that many things closed. Jan is a great time to go although the weather can be really frustrating - cold one day and very warm the next - makes it really hard to pack. But other than that, there are little to no crowds so we love that time of year.

Have a great trip.

Space Mountain was closed in January when I visited a few years ago. Can't remember what year though - '98 or '99 maybe?

Does anyone know what rides will be down for servicing in January 2005?

it seems to me more things are closed when we go in early Dec than in Jan...maybe they try to get things done for the holidays but it doesn't seem a lot has been closed during Jan. can't think of any major attractions that were closed in 2004 for rehab.( except a water park and the permanent stuff already listed which is closed for good)

Splash Mountain was closed during one of our January trips. Jan. 02 I believe. It opened back up a few days we left,l so it wasnt as if it was closed the winter season. We go to WDW every January ( since 99 anyway) and really, we havent had all that much that was just closed down for January. Most of whats being rehabed or built has been going on for awhile. Its a small world will be closed in Jan, but its been closed. COP and Timekeeper usually arent open in Jan, but they arent open all that much anyway. I also want to say that Big Thunder Mountain RR was closed during one of our trips, but Im thinking it was either over thanksgiving in 02 or last October. I remember reading on here , people complaining that they were doing more rehabs in more crowded months and they should stick to closing everything in the winter months! I sure dont agree with that as we come down every January. We might pay less for our room, but it still costs the same to get into the parks. And we get less hours too! I think its great to spread rehabs out during the year. I dont think Ive read of anything major being closed for January yet. Small world will still be closed. But theres so much else to do, we never let the few rehabs bother us!
