We're taking my 84 yr old Mom to Disney with us the end of Jan. We'll be getting a scooter for her to use. She walks with a cane but the scooter will be better for her with all the walking. My question is this...how do we get her on a ride where the cars are moving all the time. We know she won't stay upright if she has to step onto a moving floor to get to the ride vehicle. She won't need to stay on the scooter thru the line.
Thanks for any help

yes they'll just stop the vehicle so she can get it. If you're ever in a constantly moving ride and it stops and you get the "please remain seated" message, more often than not, they're just stopping to let someone get into their seat.

please note, you cannot stop Peter Pan (only slow it down) and you cannot stop the TTA. All other rides with belts can be stopped or slowed down.

you may also want to get a GAC for her, saying she cannot do stairs. Yes, a cane should tip off a CM, but when I used a cane I did stairs no problem... a GAC for this purpose may help avid confusion should she need it

Peter Pan's moving platform can slow down - and they bring you right to the vehicle so you can transfer quickly. Transferring has never ever been a problem for me!

You need to be able to transfer quite quickly, both in getting in and getting out of Peter Pan. It can be slowed, but for many people, the small amount it can be slowed is not enough. It can't be stopped except for an emergency stop (and my DH almost running out of room to get off was maybe not an emergency to the CMs, but was plenty scary to DH and our DD, who he was getting off). the design of the ride boat also gives little to hold on for someone who needs to pull themself up. I would suggest watching the boarding process for a while on Peter Pan before trying.

There is a past thread link about ride boarding in ppost #3 of the disABILITIES FAQs thread. It is a bit old, but most of the information is still valid.

Also, for most of the attractions that can be slowed or stopped, they will slow it if you are boarding at the wheelchair boarding area, which you will do with a wheelchair, ECV, readily visible mobility need or GAC that allows you to use the wheelchair boarding areas. (more info about GACs in post 6 of the disABILITIES FAQs thread.
Since slwing is enough for most attractions for most people, they usually will slow it and only stop the moving walkway if you specifically request it be stopped.
