hello!
are there certain rides that are closed in certain months? I remember reading something about that on the forum here but cant find it. Something about Twister being closed in the winter months. I am not just talking about refurbishments. I think it had to do with park attendance and popularity. can someone help me? Thanks!!

A couple of attractions are closed during the slower periods like Twister and Fear Factor but I don't think there is a section on the website that explains all that. The "seasonal" attractions can open w/o much notice based on the crowd size so there's nothing set in stone. I haven't heard any others closed seasonally for now.

:thumbsup2
so true.

i have been in the parks before when hours have been extended past the original closing time.
a few rides were reopened also.

I read that thread also...We have been down the past two years for the holidays (between Christmas and New Years) and I don't recall anything closed. It may have just been for that busier time...in real quiet times I would imagine they close down certain attractions that don't have a large draw under those conditions.

Just as a comparison, we were at Disney in September last year and they did close certain attractions and some of the eateries which were similar to others.

thank you all for your postings. I am really concerned about Twister. it's my mother's favorite and we will be there from jan11-Jan25th 2010. This will be the last time she will visit Universal and Disney and We were really hoping her favorite ride would be open. Thanks!

I will be there Jan 27th thru Feb 3rd, I am a little annoyed that they do not post these as ride closures. My son really likes twister, watches the movie about once a week. If it is closed seasonally or whatever they should post it on the web site as being closed. I wonder if there is any chance it will be open while I am there. Is there any info anywhere that says it is only open seasonally?

It's a pain sometimes but it's really due to the crowds. If Universal can save a little money by closing an attraction and having those TM's work elsewhere it's a good thing for everyone. Most parks will not give out advance notice of a closure unless it's going to be down for a significant period...again I know it's a pain but that's what happens. There is always a chance the ride will be open while you're there...that's why nothing is listed right now. Twister has not been down for a rehab or for a significant time so it's not really considered a closure. I hope it works out for you.

Fear Factor is closed right now and the website does list it as seasonal. Twister is not listed as seasonal anymore so the chances are good that it will be open even in slower times. If it is changed back to seasonal, it will be listed on the universalorlando.com website. They also list dates when a ride is closed but don't generally give as much notice as Disney does on future closings. There is an official thread on this board for closures. Check it often as we usually hear about closures before they are announced officially. Here is a link to the thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2092006

I am closing this thread since we have another thread for this. Having only one thread for ride closures makes it easier for others to find information.
