We were actively planning a trip to DL next spring. However, on another site I've read (a couple of times now) that Pirates will be closed for maintainance starting sometime early next year (can't remember offhand) through the first week of June - which is right through the time we wanted to go. I haven't been able to confirm via any other site whether this is true or not. We live on the east coast and don't travel to the west coast often, so this is a "one time" shot for us. I don't want to go if Pirates will be down...its one of the best rides! We could wait until summer, but for other logistical reasons, we may not be able to. Can someone confirm whether Pirates is scheduled for maintainance next year? With the 18 mo. celebration, it seemed like a really long time for a ride to be out of service.

It has been known for some time that POTC will be down March 6-June 16, 2006 (see www.riderefurbs.com ). I would be greatly disappointed to miss POTC (it is my favorite), so I sympathize with you. Your best chance to have all rides running is to go in the summer.

While Pirates is closed, will Blue Bayou be closed also?
Highly doubtful. BB is the most upscale of the DL restaurants.

Any time I have gone and Pirates has been closed, so has BB.

I am tentatively planning a trip from 6/25-6/30.

Do people think that POTC will be closed past the posted reopen date of 6/16?

Thank you everyone. Guess I better start replanning our trip. I don't want to miss Pirates.

Who knows? The history here, as I understand it, is that POTC was scheduled to be down in October (right now) for a minor refurb for 4-6 weeks. Someone got the idea to do a larger refurb, adding elements to the ride like Capt Jack Sparrow, etc., from the movie, and to time the re-opening to coincide, more or less, with the release of the POTC 2 movie on July 7, 2006. POTC is a very popular ride, and DL is pretty good at hitting it's schedules. With the second summer of the 50th anniversary in year 2006, I would bet DL will stick to its guns and get POTC open on schedule when the CA schools get out and the summer crowds ramp up. If nothing else, POTC sucks up a huge number of guests and gets them out of other lines.

I would be a little nervous if I were you, but the odds are highly in your favor that it will be open by late June.

We will be there from March 25-April 2, 2006. I was so disappointed to learn that POTC will not be operating during that time! :guilty: I was really looking forward to having my family experience the DL version.

BUT...we can't rearrange our trip, so we'll just have to deal with missing Pirates. :confused3

Now, I never thought about Blue Bayou being closed as well. We really wanted to give that place a try. Guess I'd better try to get some answers on whether it will be open or closed. :earsboy:
