Hello, my name is Steph and I'm a recovering ride chicken. Just got back last night  and on our first full day, I went on Everest. So glad that I did too. The backwards part wasn't that bad, IMHO(just got a tiny brief "head rush" and the drop was over quick(I find screaming takes away some of the stomach dropping feeling :teeth: ) I actually did the ride twice and would gladly go again on my next trip...

Hmmmm.... I don't know, I'm a true ride chicken, I scream like a baby on Goofy's Barnstormer. Don't think I could handle Everest. LOL

:scared1: You rode the Barnstormer??
I stood in front of Everest for a half hour. I could never get the nerve!
How do you get yourself psyced up? I would love to try but am TOO SCARED!! :sad2:

This is really interesting to me--

I'm a ride chicken.

Goofy's BarnStormer made me really tense and uncomfortable -- I tried to enjoy it but was thankful it was over so quickly. Getting myself all upset/worried while waiting in line doesn't help (nor, apparently, does the sight of so many TINY children lining up in glee to go again!)

I have conquered SM, and now love it. I have a deep breathing, relaxation moment at the top of the drop, I close my eyes (someday, I'll watch), and then it's over and I enjoyed all the rest of the ride so much that the drop seemed unimportant.

Dumbo still, ah, terrifies me. I do it, but if you could hear me talking to DS, 8 (who only deigns to go on it because I want to go because I feel like we're supposed to go) "just go straight up and then leave it there -- no bouncing it around! no ups and downs! whoa -- are we really up this high? can we maybe just ride it half way up? no? then STOP touching the controls!" you'd be in stitches.

My family really wants me to try BTMRR, and EE seems like the Holy Grail (I've watched all the tv specials and am in love with the theming, etc.). I did not think it was possible for a true ride chicken to take on EE....

Yes, I'm trying to leave my ride chicken days behind..my sister is the true ride chicken and even she will get up the nerve to do splash mountain. It's become a tradition of sorts..we'll try to see how many faces we can make on the drop in the photo. Now space mountain, I cannot do, I keep trying to work up the nerve. Rock and Roll roller coaster and Space mountain are the only rides I have left to conquer in my quest to leave my ride chicken days behind for good. BTMRR is not bad at all by the way-no drops, just fast curves. Every time I get off that thing, I'm smiling.

I ride the Magic Carpet ride with my DD and I always feel like I am going to fall out.

I'M DEFINITELY NOT A RIDE CHICKEN!
I CAN'T WAIT TO GO ON!
I GET BORED VERY FAST AND WHEN I GO ON A THRILL RIDE, I WANT NOTHING MORE THAN TO GO ON ANOTHER ONE THAT'S MORE THRILLING THAN THE LAST.
NOTHING SEEMS TO BE THRILLING ENOUGH! LOL!
:woohoo:

I think it depends on the kind of ride. My best friend loves ToT, but can't do the tea cups ... drops are fine, but spinning isn't. I can do RnR and Test Track and Splash Mountain, but don't like BTMRR because I get thrown around (and it hurts my back). I don't mind heights if I'm enclosed or secure so perhaps it is the height and openness that some people don't like about Dumbo or Magic Carpets? I love the tea cups, but have to have my eyes closed to avoid getting too dizzy. I can't do motion simulators! Star Tours is a definite "no" for me! And, no drops for me, so no ToT.
