Hello!
This is our first trip to WDW and I was wondering because we are a family of five how often will we have to split up? I hope most rides can fit all five of us in the seat. It's the rides like HM and Pooh that I'm curious about. I have to decide who sits with whom...us being an odd number family and all.....
Any tips or words of wisdom???
Thanks,
Kimba

I'm pretty sure that on Pooh you will all fit in one hunny pot (2 rows), but on HM I think you'll have to split. It's like a Tilt-A-Whirl car.
I'm trying to think of others. I think most of the time you will have to split. Space mtn seats 2 together.
Deb's site has some pics:

If your children are small, you will be able to fit three together and then two together on most rides. Space Mtn. has single seats one behind the other, with 6 seats in each attached rocket (3 +3).

It was funny to see this thread since I was planning to post the exact same question myself! We have been to Busch Gardens, Williamsburg a few times this year and that is what brought it to my mind.
We also have 3 kids so we are an odd number family - we have the most fun on things where we can all ride together (teacups, boat rides, etc.). It is not so bad when we can split 3 and 2, but the worst is when you can only fit 2 in a seat/car - then one of us has to go alone.
I had also wondered at Disneyworld what the ride situation would be for us. Last time we were there our youngest was too young to go on a lot of rides, so there weren't 5 of us trying to go on many of them.

Kimbac3 - At MK especially I can think of some rides where you'll have to split up 3 + 2, assuming that one adult will ride with two fairly small children. Things like Dumbo, Peter Pan and Haunted Mansion spring to mind. There are only a few where you'd have to split up 2 + 2 + 1 and actually be in separate cars, since I assume that would be more of a concern. For example, on Splash Mountain you could all sit in the same log, but one person will be without a partner (ditto for Big Thunder, where you'd all be in the same train). Two that do come to mind at MK are Indy Speedway + Buzz Lightyear, where one person would have to ride alone (although a very young child who didn't want to zap things in Buzz might be managed as a threesome). That still leaves a ton of rides and shows at MK that you can all do together.

Most of the rides at Epcot, MGM and AK seem to be well designed to handle groups of varying sizes (with the exception of Rock 'n' Roller Coaster and a few others) and you shouldn't have to split up very often. For the majority of attractions you're either in a theatre style presentation (all sitting in the same row) or some sort of vehicle that holds 5 or more people on a bench or row or grouping of some type (Kilimanjaro Safaris, Land boat ride, Mexico boat ride, Maelstrom in Norway, The Great Movie Ride, Body Wars, Star Tours, Dinosaur, Kali, Test Track, Tower of Terror, etc, etc).

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised to find that most attractions can be experienced together.

Hope you have a wonderful, magical first trip!

The worst is Rock 'n Roller Coaster b/c you can't even get everyone in the same ride photo. I'm not in ours!

Space mountain is one person seating; even children just making the height limit must sit in their own seat. The good news is that you're no worse off than anyone else on that ride!

Test Track is 3-across(?), Dinosaur is 4-across, but in both cases there are more than one row per vehicle so you won't be separated. Mission Space is/will be 4 per capsule so there's no way you can all go together on that. Buzz Lightyear is only two shooters per vehicle; you may be able to squeeze in a small child who doesn't shoot.
