Ride breakdowns?

We were stuck in Spaceship Earth for about 20 minutes on our first trip in 1993. Then in '97 we were stuck in Small World for about 15 minutes. Since we had each other in '93, & our son in '97, we were fine and laughed about the Small World song being implanted in our bains forever! :sunny:

For the gentleman who was evacuated from Peter Pan, I have to ask, .....How on earth did the CMs get the chips to you?

Just kept tossing a bag of them up to us until we caught it.

I did see one of the platforms, and they even hand cranked a few ships over to it. I guess we weren't close enough to it for that.

DH and I got stuck on Peter Pan at Disneyland Paris last year for about 20 minutes.
We were over the rainbow! Literally! Way up high! :rainbow:

The lights came on and 2 CM's came out and started explaining things in French. It was only when the lady sat behind us told them that we were English that they started explaining the breakdown in both languages. I think they weren't too far away from getting ladders to get us down when the problem was fixed.

Once , again at DLP, we were just at the boarding of Pirates when a breakdown occurred. We we held for about 15 minutes at the dock when a burly guy came wading through from the treasure trove end of the ride - he had on a pair of wading wellies that fisherman wear and a spanner in his hand! He said it was working and got a big cheer and a round of applause from everyone around! :woohoo:

DD13 and I were "evacuated" off Space Mountain. We had loaded into our rocket, and the rocket took off moving a few feet before stopping. We remained in the rocket for about 10 minutes until the CM's had us get out of the rocket and make the treacherous climb up onto the loading platform. It was extremely exciting. :bitelip:

We were riding on RnR Coaster lst Nov 05. As we were going through the last loop over, all the sudden the lights came on :confused3 and we coasted to a stop. When we stopped several CMs came from nowhere to make sure we were okay. We had to get off before the actual exit and walk a little further than normal. When we got to the exit we were given undated, untimed FastPasses to ride again!

Another time I was evacuated off the TOT. We reached the drop shaft and never dropped. Eventually they turned all the lights on, a voice told us that the elevator was under control, lowered us very very slowly down the drop shaft and they let us ride the real elevator back up to the loading area for those who wanted to get back on the ride.

That would have scared me to death!! :faint:

Oh goodness. I remember training on Splash Mountain and thinking that I would never ever EVER remember how in the heck to get to the different places to evac. And then it came to be that evac-ing was what I (and the other CP CMs) lived for! I don't know, it was just such a rush to me to know that I got to run up the Mountain, walk all around the track and be in charge of helping Guests off and out of the Mountain.

Evac-ing takes a while, especially on Splash. It's a 12 minute ride, longest ride in MK (yes, longer than small world) and so it will take some time. Unfortunatley, turning off the music isn't the first thing we're instructed to do.

As for the poster who said about the lady getting off Universe of Energy...

Some lady got OUT of the log on Splash, right before the big hill (C-Lift) on the side with the animation (the left side) and then actually walked through the water in the flume to get to the right side, set off the intrustion alarms and when we asked her why on earth she'd think this was a good idea she said "I wanted to stretch my legs." UM HELLO!!!!

That was, the only time, where I honestly had to bite my tongue because I wanted to scream. This lady put her life on the line here! She could have been seriously injured.

But then again, these were the types of people that CMs have to put up with. They're few and far between, but when you find them the stories will stick in your head forever.

Another lady hopped out to open her backpack to get a bottle of water out for her kid. Sheesh.

Where's the common sense?!

Also - the attractions break down because they're used CONSTANTLY. And even if they're refurbed, people will still complain. Splash was down for a week during my College Program and some Guests thought it was the end of the world/World. They're tricky little buggers, but rest assured - even if they do break down in a few hours you can go right back on and everything will be satisfactual!

We just got back last night from a one week trip. While I was there, POTC stopped for about 15 minutes. I was supposed to meet my family and was very worried they'd miss me. But they did give us all a one time fast pass for any ride after that. That helped.

Also, two other rides at Epcot stopped for a few minutes each. Universe of Energy and one more that I can't remember.
