Good morning everyone

DD has to give a little talk about summer camp at the beginning of all 3 services this morning at our church, so we will be there ALLLL morning. This will be her ninth summer going and today is the day that the church requests donations to the camp. DD just has to tell her experiences and someone else requests the money. Have to leave in a couple of minutes. Plan on going to the bagel shop between the first and second services.

Very foggy here today.

Hope to catch up with you later.

Good Morning Everyone!:D

Carol-Does your DD get nervous talking in front of that many people? My DD would be really nervous!! I hope she does well.

We have to drive an hour or an hour and a half for DS's hockey game this afternoon. These district playoffs seem to be going on forever!

Good morning all!!

Carol, I was thinking the same thing as Laura said. Does your daughter get nervous talking in front of people? I have such a problem with that most of the time.

Laura, best of luck at you DS's hockey game!! Sorry it is so far away though.

We had a few inches of snow here as well but fortunately I don't have anywhere I need to go.

Good morning!

We've been busy this morning...already back from the grocery store! Since it's still raining I'm looking forward to staying home for the rest of the day. DH & DS will be dodging raindrops at some point because baseball tryouts are next Sunday and the weather has prevented them from getting outside to practice.

Sending even more good luck to your son Laura! Where are you in MI? DH is a weather buff and he was watching the snow in your area of the country last night.

High five to Carol's DD for promoting her camp! I went to camp for about 5 years, when I was maybe 9-12. Not long ago I located the camp on the internet. It's still open, this year will be it's 57th summer.

Hi everyone!

Donna - it's nice to have a new chatter with us.

I watched Trading Spaces last night. I missed the reveal on show #1, but I think I saw that one before anyway. I loved the fireplace that Vern put in! It made such a striking effect in the room. I also liked Frank's room. I would love to create some type of faux canopy bed for DD's new bedroom.

Got up early for church and CCD today, but then we started getting a lot of snow falling. They called to cancel CCD, so we just decided to stay home. (Sorry God!) I can't believe it's only 11 am because it seems like I've gotten a lot done today already. The refinished nightstands look really great. I forgot to take before pictures of the nightstands and the chest of drawers, so I will have to remember to get one of the dresser before I start to work on it.

The guy at the paint store sold us way too many gallons of paint, so my sister is coming over today to see if she likes the color enough to use it in her living room. Of course, I'll have to tell her that it will look wonderful in her house so she'll take some!;)

Gail- nice to see the new picture in your signature!

Hope everyone has a great day!

DD did great in church today. Each service got a little better. At 9:30, she and 3 other girls sang a camp song before she spoke. At 11, it was just 3 of them singing, then she spoke. We have a large church and the 3 of them filled it with their voices. I was proud.

DD has no trouble speaking before a large group. Back in fifth grade she spoke before their "graduation" and also sang a solo. She has been in plays at both school and church and has sung solos. She read liturgy at her confirmation, one of those awful verses full of unpronouncable names. She did NOT get this ability from me. She volunteered to speak today.

Hello everyone! Today was church parade for our Guide troop. DD had an introduction to read and also a part in the skit the girls did. There was a very small turn out at the church today because we had a lot of snow overnight. I hope DH and DS and the rest of the Scouts make it home safe and sound from Hamilton soon.

I'm planning on a quiet day here to shake off the last of the crud that's had me in it's grip for the past week.

Good luck to your DS Laura!

Gail, I do love that picutre of you all in your signature!!! Looks great!

L4, best of luck to you with trying to get rid of that paint. I am sure they will find it to be a beautiful color and will want to use it themselves ;)

Carol, sounds like you have a wonderful DD there :)

Baboo, I do hope that cold of yours goes away and that the quiet and restful day will do you well :)

Carol and Baboo - three cheers for your DD's! I hate speaking in public.

Carol - I heard about the roof collapsing on a Toys R Us, and I thought they said it was in MD. Was it anywhere near you?

Laura, no. That Toys R Us is near Washington, DC, at least 1.5 hours away from us.

Know what will be funny at RiddleCon? My DD, who can speak in front of a group, will probably be shy and quiet because she won't know anyone.

Hi Guys!

We're leaving for the game in about 5 minutes but I thought I'd pop in and say Hi & bye:D

Where are you in MI? DH is a weather buff and he was watching the snow in your area of the country last night.
Gail-We're about 20 minutes north of Ann Arbor in Livingston County. The name of my city is Brighton. If you have a map we are at the intersection of 2 freeways.......I-96 & US-23. DH shoveled this morning & says we got about 6 or 7 inches. It was really windy here too!

Thanks Laura......we found you on a map and now you'll be part of DH's weather circuit. Hope the hockey game went well.

I edited a picture from last weekend to put in our signature. I like winter pictures.....lots of clothing. You'll never see me post a picture of me in a bathing suit. I have "rules" about being photographed in a bathing suit. I have to either be waist-deep in water or have a child directly in front of me!!! ;)

Carol, I get the same way too. I am even shy in front of people I have met online but not in person.

Laura, hope the game went well!!! Let us know how it went!

I like your rules for bathing suit pictures, Gail... my kind of rules :teeth:

Hello, all! And, THANKS for the warm welcome to the Chat thread!!! Does John ever pop in over here??

Elaine, sounds like you had a nice lunch. Glad to hear you are both planning on Riddle Con...I sure hope we can make it there. I have said this before, but I don't *do* coasters, so I am looking at other stuff going on.

LOVE the picture in your post, Gail!! Everyone looks so happy and good....I know how hard it is to get that many people to look that good! :)

My heart goes out to all of those affected by the tragedy in Rhode Island...my son plays in a band (his own band, he is 21, is the lead singer and writes most of the songs, plays keyboard, too) and these recent events at nightclubs have got me thinking hard about his (and others) safety!

We are having another bright, blue sunny day here in Chicago...I'm NOT complaining, just sooo surprised that we have had hardly any snow this winter! Just COLD!!! :)

Gail, I like your picture and your picture taking rules. Very sound thinking.

HI Everyone.
Just a quick note to say hi.....race was boring......guess I'll go clean the bathroom....

See you all later.
S

I propose that my "rules" be in effect for RiddleCon....for both photographing and videos.....unless the subject of the photo agrees to waive them!!!

Nice to see you here Donna....thanks for the kind words!

By RiddleCon, I expect to not need a child in front of me, although pictures in swim suits are still not allowed.
