We're surprising our kids, 9 and 12, with a trip to WDW in December. Haven't told them anything about going. We've been only once, two years ago.
I've looked around on this WONDERFUL DIS Board for ideas on how to surprise them and while there are LOTS of great ideas, I've finally decided on how to do it and anyone is welcome to use my idea!
There is a poem on each of the custom park maps you can order from the disney website. (OK, credit is hereby given!) I've combined them into one poem, but changed a few of the words so it's more of a challange. I will print the poem out on some neat paper and give a copy to each of them the day we leave. The video camera will be running and DH and I will hand them each an envelope containing the poem. Their instructions will be simply to read the poem aloud TOGETHER and solve the riddle. The look on their faces when they solve the "riddle" will be priceless!
Here's the "riddle":
What Am I?
Within this place you will find a lush harbor
A world that unfolds around a great arbor
Where wild things frolic and dinosaurs roar
Follow a trail to adventures and more
Show business takes center stage at this site
Where movies and music and TV delight
Just follow the signs and off you will go
As they say in the movies, it's "on with the show"
You will discover many countries in one
And a world of the future built around fun
There are wonders aplenty beyond the big ball
These treasures were chosen to please one and all
Enter a dwelling of magic for you
Where fairytale dreams all can come true
This incredible place, almost in your hands
Will amaze you with wonder of all seven lands.
