Anyone have this? I saw him advertise it on the Meg Mullally show while I was at the doctor, and I can't get it off my mind! I want one, but not if it's just another "as seen on tv but never seems to work that way at home" gizmo. Does it actually work and is it worth the money?

To be completely honest with you, I saw Richard on Letterman recently. They brought out the steamer and turned it into a HUGE joke by having the steamer literally catch on fire and explode on air...I looked at my DH and was stunned. We were watching this whole interview with RS and he was talking about eating right and cooking right and how he developed this steamer. Well Letterman brought it out filled with all food items and then proceeded to have the steamer blow up.

GUESS WHAT...whether or not is was a joke, after that segment, I would NEVER buy the steamer. Why I thought it was a joke as RS laughed at the whole segment....leading me to think this was some JOKE. I was not amused at all...as he sucked us in and then blew the steamer UP!

So that is my 2 cents on the RS Steamer.

I have to admit the thought of a Richard Simmons Steamer sounds pretty sick.:scared1:

:confused3 what do you use it on????????:scared1:

As I recall it had three or four different sections to place different foods in. At first, I thought HOW UNIQUE..but when the Letterman showed decided to make it a huge JOKE, with this electrical piece of equipment BLOWING IT UP and catching on fire, rather freaked me and then as RS laughed at it, I thought...is this for real or WHAT.

Well, they just lost me and I am sure many watching that night.

There are six or so compartments to put food in, and they all cook at different times and temperatures so the dinner is ready at the same time. You don't have to use fatty oils or anything and it's supposed to be healthy. But I think momrek just killed it for me! :rotfl2:

Sorry about that MISSY, maybe you can google it on CONSUMER REPORTS and get a real authentic review other than mine...but I really was freaked when RS had all these foods in the different compartments, talking about eating right and how steaming your foods is just so healthy...when all of a sudden the entire steamer catches on fire, right on Letterman's desk and then the next thing that happens is it BLOWS UP right on air!!! At this point the audience is ROARING and so is RS....what exactly would YOU think about purchasing this item....me = NOT HAPPENING!!!

I also watched that episode of Letterman and I have to say it was the last one I watched. I have enjoyed watching it for about 15 years but that night Dave lost me as a fan because of his treatment of Richard!
It was horrible the way he talked to him and made fun of him then made his steamer blow up. Richard in my honest opinion did not know this was going to happen because when it did RS screamed and jumped and took off across the stage.

If you remember when Dave and Richard were lifting it out from behind the desk RS asked why there was a pan attached to the bottom and Dave said that they had to have it there blah blah blah

RS did laugh during the interview but it was that --huh huh I don't really get it kind--in relation to Dave making fun of him---When the steamer blew up RS never went back on stage and when they showed him he just looked like someone kicked him and he walked away.

Like I said I have refused to watch the show since then because I think what Dave did was horrendous--There is absolutly no reason to treat someone the way he treated RS during the interview and I sent an email to let them know what I thought about what was done.

I haven't heard anything back and seriously doubt I will but as for the steamer I also thought it looked worthwhile and loved the idea of cooking items seperatly and would buy it based on cost and availability!

Thank you for posting this!! I was close in what I said and as you can see RS didn't know that it was a flash pan and I think he regained himself rather well. DL in my opinion is an **** and I just wish that this link showed the whole interview and not just the last couple of minutes that way everyone could see what I did---Very poor taste on Daves part!

I'd buy it, it looks like a good product.

Thanks for the link, now MISSY can see what I mean...I will say if the link went on longer you will see RS laughing...anyway, lost me as a option to purchase this steamer!

HUH?

If anything, Letterman lost me as a fan! He's always been a jerk to Richard Simmons and that was the poorest display of crudeness. I think Richard was just saving face there at the end when he made that little joke. I don't blame him.

Richard Simmons Rocks!!

I would buy his steamer.

It was a huge joke on poor Richard and I think he handled himself well in that situation.

Dave is a *******. Did he set Richard up? He didn't even flinch when that thing blew up.

I never liked David Letterman....I don't find him to be funny at all - just rather crass. Richard Simmons makes me laugh. I'd never seen the Meg Mullally show and when he said he was doing butt squeezes as he sat it cracked me up. He looks good for his age. Now if only the steamer hadn't blown up...

The only reason the steamer blew up is because Dave is an ****!!
This show was being sold as the getting back together of Dave and Richard---Richard had gone loopy on his last appearance dressed like a turkey then passed out in the back---Dave had ragged on him and made Richard unwelcome on the show
Well Dave decided to bury the hatchet and invited Richard back on--OR SO WE THOUGHT!!
Like I said it was horrible the way Dave treated Richard the entire show-He picked on him, made fun of him and made snide remarks the ENTIRE show then as a final screw you DAVE made the steamer blow up.
I have not watched another Late Night since then and have no plans to do so whatsoever.
Buy the steamer if you want it!! Don't let Dave's cruel prank stop you from getting something that you feel would better you!! I know I won't!!

Okay that video was hilarious but I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks David was being a huge ***.

I think he's (DL) a jerk.
